What breeds of chickens should I look into? We currently have some tan egg layers and one lucky olive egger, but I've always wanted to see blue or darker colored "chocolate" eggs or others. Which breeds of chickens lay interesting colors of eggs?
Thanks!

Yea, right now I have mostly mutts, and mostly roosters unfortunately but they're still awesome!! And your birds are lovely btw, may I ask, what is that bird in the second picture? The one in the foreground?

Aww, so cute!! And oh, I have a rooster that looks exactly like the red one in the second pic there!! They're so pretty
Oh! and your rescue in the last pic, I think he's quite the find. The barring is quite spectacular on him. I think i read somewhere that barred EE's were uncommon, so...
Wow! Thanks for all the help and replies on what to do. I will check her tomorrow again to make sure, but when I felt the lump yesterday it seemed to be a bit hard, not squishy as the crop would usually be. Then again maybe it isnt the crop, but if it's not then what on earth is it...

Goodness, that is a strange looking bird, but my gosh he/she is absolutely amazing! Look at all those colors!!! I have one of my own right now that seems to be a mix of a bunch of random breeds. Here he is right now at about 3 months...
She's around 2 years, almost 3 years old. Her comb and wattles have been a light pink for a while, and she just looks more dull compared to the other 3 hens we have. She has been molting, and doesn't seem to have fully regrown her feathers out yet. At first I thought it could have been an...
Alright, it hasn't come back for the last two days, but I'm still contemplating getting a live trap, and dwhite, yes I am in the US right now, so from your post I'm guessing I will have to deal with this animal myself Thanks again! If I manage to get a live trap I'll let everyone know how it goes.
Oh wow, thank you Tallulah! Right now our girl is a lot better, I've sprayed a few coats of Blu Kote on her and the wound has stopped bleeding already. Right now I'm waiting for it to heal completely. I just don't know when I can let her back out though. Should we wait until the feathers have...
Hello! I've had the exact same experience. We cut too deep that time and it must've hit a blood feather or something. So it started bleeding. We cleaned the wound and put ointment on the feather head that were bleeding and then placed it back in the run. She's perfectly fine now, besides the...
Yea, the only reason why we haven't decided for a live trap is because we're unsure of the regulations around here, and we don't know if we can actually dispose of this raccoon by drowning it (it could be illegal, I don't know).
We're not going to be stitching. Right now we packed it (sort of) with ointment, basically just a big blob without gauze. She seems to be ok right now, I'm just not sure what else to do about the wound. Someone recommended Blu Kote, and my dad bought a can today, is this good for the injury? Our...

I do believe it's the ointment. When she previously managed to tear off the gauze, she started fussing the feathers around the wound, worrying me and my mom. Good thing we got to her in time. Right now the covering seems to be working, so hopefully it'll heal. Thank you again for your...
It doesn't seem to be an extremely large or gaping wound, and we did have gauze and ointment on it, but the girl pecked it off. Right now it's just ointment w/o gauze and we made some sort of cover around her face to stop her from pecking the wound. I don't know about any vets that will see...
