Around 12:30 our sweet baby took his last breath. He died being warm and loved. I feel like we did what we could. He was the last of 14 who died.
Large lessons learned about late season hatchlings and cold weather here in eastern KY. Next year, we will be better prepared. Thank you to...
I've tried and tried. He will not take it on his own. I've given him tiny drips of water out of the syringe. I've but him in a little warm water. He will barely hold his head up. I've snuggled him. He peeps so softly. I feel he's giving up guys. He cannot walk now.
We keep our home about 70. He is staying on the side of the lamp. The top of the box we keep open for ventilation I gave him a small snuggle toy. He is snuggled up. He's pooped several times and peeps when I disturb him. I need to get a thermometer. I think it's not too warm cause when I pick...
Will he get used to our house temp? I'm wondering how long to keep him so warm? Like he seems better in the box with the heat lamp than when we hold him. Still adjusting from the shock?
He makes an effort to take crumble from the spoon that I added water to. He will drink some but he's not seeking it out today for himself.
I'm gonna try to get him some tomorrow. He is 10 days old.
He seems a little sleepy today. He is eating and drinking a little and pooping. So that's a good thing. He may be a little sad. I feel so sorry for him. I'm gonna out a stuffed animal in.
Yesterday morning, my daughter found 9 piled up dead. Momma was off of them and to the side but not covering the remaining three.
I returned home a couple hours to find another dead and two left beside of it. Mom was not on them. I took them into the house and warmed them. One never acted...
He just too, some water off my finger a couple times! Yay. I'm more hopeful now. I'm gonna just keep him warm and try to hydrate. Hopefully he will feel like eating.
Thank you Lydia so much.
I have it on a heating pad right now in front of a fire place but he sing eating or drinking. He is still peeping for momma in between naps. He acts kinda drowsy.
This morning all of the dead ones were all piled up together. Some on top of the other. I just thought her being as broody as she...
We now only have one and he is acting sickly.. I don't understand it except the cold. I did get dumor chick starter. It had more protein than the one with the grower. They had eat it since the 10th.
Was that maybe it?
We went out this morning to 10 dead. I'm sure it was the 40 degree temps this morning. I thought the mommy would keep the, warm in the house we have for them. I'm just sick....
Ha ha, kinda! I been out trying to look at my ducklings legs...lol I think I may have two out of the 6 that are males. The other four of the second clutch are too small yet.
Thank you
