    Depluming mites? Pictures

Thanks for the response. Yeah I know those are new feathers growing in; it's because he ripped them all out. He is literally pulling the feathers out & there is blood sprayed on the coop walls. No other chickens look like this. I didn't want to medicate him if he doesn't need it.

    Depluming mites? Pictures

My rooster seems to be pecking his feathers off more and more in the past couple of weeks. I dusted him a couple of times with Sevin, but it doesn't appear to have helped. Is this what depluming mites looks like? Or is this just from the heat or boredom or something simpler?

5 week old chicks- any guesses on sex or breeds?

Haha I don't know if it's bad new yet or not. If I end up with 3 Roos in this bunch, I guess someone will have to go. I already have one huge rooster, and he doesn't seem too impressed with the babies. Not sure how I'll handle 4 roosters .

How do you stop feather eating/ pecking?

they are healing but one hasn't grown feathers back. this is what they looked like that day & she was the worst/ much worse than pic shows. I found the purple no peck lotion and dab it on the area. They look okay from what I can tell in the pictures. I also use peck no more and a spray that is...

5 week old chicks- any guesses on sex or breeds?

Yeah, that's what it's looking like. I'm still not 100% sure about #1 because it's the only chicken I have with a pea comb. It hasn't developed any wattles though. It definitely isn't friendly. I'm pretty well convinced about the others at this point. Thanks!

5 week old chicks- any guesses on sex or breeds?

I have several barred rock chicks which should all be pullets, and all appear to be thus far. I have 5 other chicks that I hatched from a local farmer. I'm unsure of breeds and no two are the same. This farmer has quite the variety of breeds, all integrated in to one large flock. I'm sure I'll...

Eggs viable? Unsure of age-- pics

Okay. That was the plan anyway; I just don't want to get my hopes up if someone can see something wrong that I can't. My broody seems like she's giving up, so I don't want to keep her in there alone if they're not going to hatch. Okay. I'll remain patient and give it the full 21 or so days.

Eggs viable? Unsure of age-- pics

This is my first experience with a broody hen on eggs, so I need some help. I know that these eggs were laid on or prior to May 1, because that is the date I separated her from the flock. She is laying on two fertile eggs. Up to this point, I have checked them a few times when she has gotten off...

    Security light in run

This is pretty much what I was getting at. I was hoping it would deter a few predators, at least initially since it would be something new. My hens stay out until it's practically dark as it is, so I didn't want to encourage them to stay out any later. Thanks for your input!
