Okay, I finally got hands on her and i’m fairly certain it’s a Pullet. No comb developement, no red waddles, no saddle feather growth...
Also, she has the most gorgeous blue legs.
Yeah, I’ve had Polish in the past. I trim the crests because we’ve had issues with aerial predators, and I keep looking at what i’m thinking are saddle feathers. His/her crest does seem less crazy, and more smoothed back and neat when it’s full.
I’ve been raising a bunch of chicks for my mom, and I told her I would keep any boys since she’s terrified of them, lol. This Gold Laced Polish (bearded) is throwing me off. Some days I’m certain it’s a Cockerel, other days I think it’s just wishful thinking, hoping it’s a Pullet for my mom’s...
My sweet Kiwi appears to have an abscess over her eye. I was watching her and her sister Muffin all day today (thinking they may be turning cockerel on me) and I noticed later on that Kiwi has some sort of swelling that was not there earlier. It’s soft, almost pimple like. She hated me holding...
No, and I’m just not sure what to call these. They’re not crests because it doesn’t affect the skull shape. It’s just a little tuft or pompadour of feathers.
Like this. My Sapphire Olive Egger and an Easter Egger all have the same feathering.
ETA: I’m watching for the earlobes, but as of yet no...
According to Hoover’s website Hatchery Choice Rare’s is either Sapphire Olive Eggers, Andalusian, or Lavender Orpington. Due to Dark Blue’s darker coloring I’m beginning to wonder if she’s an Andalusian. I’m waiting for the head tufts to come in to confirm or deny that they’re Olive Eggers. I’m...
I have two Hoover’s Delawares, they seem around the same size as my Brahmas.
This is my strongly suspected cockerel, Waffles who was hatched toward the end of March. He doesn’t seem freakishly large, but considerably more broad chested than our leghorn of the same age.
Last February I posted about Flappy (here). It was suggested that she was a Pyncheon. Today as I was watching the flock I decided to do some sleuthing as to what color eggs she would lay, when I saw that in the Pyncheon description it stated that they come in Mille Fleur and breeders are working...
I don't have an incubator just yet; this was purely a test run for an unexpected broody. I had thoughts of going to the Tennessee State Fair and seeing what was being shown and who was breeding what locally, as I don't really have an idea of what I want to do.
My husband and I talked about me...
