Hi,
I received this note:
Dear [Rare Avis],
Thank you for your patience! We know you are eagerly awaiting the arrival of your 6-week-old chickens next week. Unfortunately, we have even more sad news: we are discontinuing our juvenile chickens program this spring. A slower-than-expected...
Hi,
Sadie has what I'm 99% sure is a mild case of flavus {white/pale yellow powder on 'floppy' depression of comb}.
Our new vet suggested betadine, an iodine solution, topically, rather than lotrimin or a similar topical.
After applying, the comb seems to be peeling very, very thin layers...
I'm very interested in this hopping thing.
I've heard abut it with one other rooster, too.
I'm wondering whether I should attempt to amputate based on:
Outcome:
3D Prosthetic
Peg leg
heel, nub, neoprene booty adapted
Not worry really about where, because they really can hop and...
That's great advice, thank you...
:)
I rescue orphaned or sick or injured kittens and senior dogs and others at times.
Some have been written off: prolapsed anus, for instance; malnutrition. I love them; I heal them; I work with a vet.
I do not claim authority in this area, but I know...
What is he policy on bumping old threads, here?
If I see an old thread that is topically relevant, but I hope to talk to real people and not just read, is it OK to add a comment or Q or should one expect a reply, if old?
I can RESEARCH,
I have access to INFORMATION,
What I seek? Is human...
Clearly, this is a radical step.
I am uncertain of how to proceed.
I believe or I'm considering the ethics: If a young chicken is in pain and having difficulty walking, and my vet does not want to become an expert: ie he can no longer try to diagnose him, can a rooster live a happy life with...
I'm not talking about whether one surgery is more barbaric than another.
I'm new to chickens.
This is a straightforward question, not an insult:
Is there a code of ethics that chicken owners follow that provide guidelines for say; someone new, that might clarify for me what is and what is...
How did this go?
I have a Q:
What are the guidelines, or are there any, regarding the ethics of this extreme of care being undertaken on chickens?
Is there a sort of industry wide dos and donts?
I gotta admit: it shocks me that a surgery would be performed without any medical background...
Sorry, Sally Sunshine, I kinda dropped the ball there on the whole Jeeves thing.
I'm not myself; so worried.
I apologize.
But? I got some of my story out, and that felt cathartic, so thank you, once again.
Where are you from?
Jeeves, by the by?
We often associate this with Alfred...
...Stallone, who I do NOT, particularly, care to allude to.
Rocky?
That's the road we've been on: his start in life.
Plus? It's just d*mn COOL.
Too hipster?
I LIKE it!!!!
I think it fits him: his whole gestalt.
Go Dway-ane, Go Dwa-ayne,
It's your birthday,
Eat...

Sally, thank you! I'll get right to it, if you don't mind; niceties later?
I'd GUESS 2-3?
I think a tad skinny BUT? Others do not. I am PUSHING the nutrients; there is HUGE backstory, here... I suspected nutritional issues from day one. My vet? Just...

Oooh.... methinks?
YIKES.
I'm over 30 and only JUST beginning not to feel personally responsible for, and guilty of having invented, White Privilege.
I think? Jeeves? Not quite PC, in my part of the... well? UNIVERSE?!?
;p
Please? No...
Lol:
Sally, you are going to laugh at me... ;p
After all that seriousness? And in truth, I did and do mean every word... but?
FUNNY:
It just so happens?
I have a bit of a naming shortage right now.
Or? Maybe a naming.... issue?
My she, as it turns out?
Is a he.

Have you heard of the crop support? It's kind of like a bra for crops, and some people swear by them.
A woman in Vermont {where I live} was going to have to ethically euthanize her beloved chicken due to a crop issue—ongoing; had tried...
Proud sleeper-with-chicken, here.
Sadie, by the by?
Is a boy! Found out last night.
About 13-15 weeks; was headed for stew pot; injured; rescue. 1st chicken, ever. Few weeks.
Here, please have a Cohiba, on me!
:)
I'm making a splint tonight: FIRST time ever. Has anyone done...
I concur: region is necessary to help determine critter-culprit.
Suggestions:
Can you set out quick-drying plaster mixed with mud in a place where critter-culprit would need to cross to get to chickens? If you spread old leaves, mulch, or sand down first, these casts are very easy to...
