Never mind, re-read and see you super glued.

You might want to look into getting some saline or chlorhexidine and giving it a really good flush. You feed store might have some fish antibiotics, but probably not, so the only other choices would be injectables. Do you have any human antibiotics?Thank you very much. Yes, I closed them separately, but I used super glue and it didn't hold. At this point, it's been open too long to try and close it, so I'm trying to keep it moist, and clean, but am not at all confident I've cleaned it appropriately. I'll look into the antibiotics you suggest. Hopefully, our local feed store has them and I can start her on them in the morning. Thank you
I don't know enough about treating wounds to offer you any advice on flushing or antibiotics. If you do find an antibiotic, google the use of it in humans and see if it would be appropriate for treating this in poultry. For example, your feed store should have should have tetracycline and or oxytetracycline, but I have no idea if those would ever be used in this situation.Kathy,
Thank you very much for all of your insights. I really appreciate it. I do have saline which I used to flush the crop and wound T the time of the procedure. I still have some so will use that. Do you think just flushing it is enough, or do I need to blot it or?? I keep worrying that I don't have it clean enough, but M worried about being too aggressive. I'll check on the fish antibiotics tomorrow. Is it a fish version of penicillin that I'm looking for? Sorry for the endless questions, but I sure appreciate your help. Many thanks!
Jeanne
How did this go?
I have a Q:
What are the guidelines, or are there any, regarding the ethics of this extreme of care being undertaken on chickens?
Is there a sort of industry wide dos and donts?
I gotta admit: it shocks me that a surgery would be performed without any medical background and that no antibiotics were administered prophylactically and ongoing according to some sort of some sort of industry protocol.
Or that, if a pet, this would be legal.
I'm just curious what Best Practices are regarding chicken care.
