I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve never had that happen so I paniced a little thinking that what ever it was could pass to my other hens or maybe something I could prevent from losing more. But with everyone’s wonderful responses I feel at ease now.
Ya I knew it wasn’t my medicated feed or scratch I’ve had chickens my whole life but I’ve never had one drop dead except for my broiler chickens. Thank you for all your advice. It’s very helpful.
I have a 16 week old hen not laying yet that just up and died. No injuries or mites but I did notice that her crop was empty. She was acting completely fine before she passed. Why did this happen?
In my coop I have a part that is fenced off for new chicks or if one is sick. So right now I have 10 week old chicks in there. My chickens free range on 10 acres and he will chase them all over the yard.
