itsasmallfarm, the Mare's Leg is a pistol in the US, because both the barrel length and over all length would make it a short barrel rifle under US legal definition per the National Firearms Act. If Henry's, Rossi, or anyone else, sold them here as rifles, instead of going to an FFL and going...
Watched Pacific Rim this evening. Lots of action, cool looking monsters and mechs, and a compelling enough story with some silly humor thrown in.
It's not a deep drama, I wasn't expecting it to be, but the story line holds together decently. Not a film I would take kids below mid teens to, IMO...
I think the article could have been better if geared towards an educational point. If we taught more people to learn about an animal before deciding they want it as a pet, perhaps more 'exotic' pets wouldn't be dumped on shelters and roadsides.
Fad animals, which chickens have become, almost...
RaZ, from looking back in the thread, didn't you rehome the last of your birds at/around Chicken Stock over a week ago? This is dated 1 week and 4 days ago.
I know many here make some kind of income off of their birds, or at least use them to take down some of their own food costs.
The question 'Why would you shoot a family pet over a chicken' strikes me as ignorant. Why would you permit your family pet to destroy someone's livelihood, as a dog...
My Mom makes and releases glass floats in honor of area veterans who have died. I don't know if she releases them after the Memorial Day services in the park anymore, it got rather draining to see so many in the water, waiting to scoop them up and take them home, disrespecting the entire meaning...
Last I saw, shooting a home invader was entirely legal in MI, as long as they are within your home (and you feel your life is threatened, but most people will feel threatened by someone they don't know breaking into their house). You can't shoot them if they were say, just in your yard...
Humph.
So, should I mention to my Dad that re-starting the family farm may be without State protections? Granted it's nearly 100 years in the family, with small farms for neighbors, so perhaps they'll overlook the animal head count portion.
You mention tree farms, are they going to crack down...
Many people who commit terrible acts seem completely 'normal'.
Ted Bundy was seen as a handsome, well groomed man by his victims, and the people out to catch him. Ted Kaczynski was very intelligent, a prodigy who got into Harvard at age 16.
Being normal doesn't exclude someone from being terrible.
In 2002 the Secret Service released a study done on 37 school shootings. In the overview of the study, they found ten key things to the shootings.
Incidents of targeted violence at school were rarely sudden, impulsive acts.
Prior to most incidents, other people knew about the attacker's idea...
I wonder if the letters containing ricin are somehow connected to this. So far two have been found, one going to a Senator and another to the White House.
Having a suspect is a step, but who knows if it is a step forward or not.
It's rather concerning that no one has come forward to claim the...
Snowflake, you may be able to place whole roasted coffee beans on a candle warmer (in a tin) and that might produce a coffee smell without needing to brew any. I know I had a couple candles made with whole coffee beans stuck in the wax and it smelled nice, but the tin it was in was poorly built...
A comment on the 'gauged' ears:
The proper term for it is stretched ears, or ear stretching. Gauge is the measurement, what you're actually doing to the ears (or nose/lip) is stretching the skin.
Many younger people who are getting into that form of body modification take it far too quickly and...
Last movie I saw in theaters was the Hobbit, and I enjoyed it but the 3D was pointless. I don't mind that they are making 3 films, since they are adding in parts of the extended Middle Earth history, collected from other books, to make a more rounded story when it's finished. From what I've...
It's getting late for me, so I have to get to bed and get some sleep. I'll check in throughout the day tomorrow to see what the plan is for helping MIchickens out with his chicks.
I'm fine taking in whatever chicks are left, those with first dibs can take what they want. If Wednesday is too early in the week for anyone else, I can wait until the weekend to pick up the left over chicks. MIchickens, I'll PM you my number, if the others will be showing up on separate days...
Myself, a friend and a few people he knows can take in the chicks. We're in Clio, half hour or so away, and could come get them Wednesday afternoon/early evening, if that time is alright with you. The earliest we could be out to that area is 4:30-ish.
