Ooooohhh! I'm working on an organic index for our fellow BYCers. I'm trying to compile the organic discussions in one central location, as well as provide some external links to informative sites. This will probably be a continual work in progress, but please let me know if there are useful...
I'm sure this is a silly question but do you all feed your banties pellets or crumbles? I have a girl that I can't keep weight on and I was wondering if the pellets are too big. Is that possible? Thanks!
Here is a link to the BYC tapeworm diagnosis conversation. It has the picture of the poop with the tapeworm eggs. By the way, they move...and they are GROSS!!! bleh!

I just wanted to let everyone know that TAPEWORMS do not show up on a fecal test. I don't think it is very common knowledge so I thought I'd share my experience.
I had chickens wasting away with no other symptoms and kept thinking that it was worms, but I brought in two separate...

*** Any hatching experts out there?!! ***
So, typically the yolk is absorbed before the chick hatches to give them energy for the hatch. And if the yolk doesn't get absorbed, it is usually an indication that it will probably have problems anyway. However, since the hatching process has...
I think we need a little more information to help you figure out what is wrong with your girl, but you could try to feed her some cooked eggs in the mean time. I have yet to see my birds refuse cooked eggs. They are high in vitamins and protein. I'm having weight loss problems with my birds...
Thank you for all of the very helpful advice and research! Based on your input and the pictures you all shared, I am convinced it is tapeworms. (Do the picture make anyone else lightheaded or is it just me? EWWWWW!)
The two that are most severly affected came from a horse ranch, so they...
