Yeah, I love my feathered feet and legs too! Some people complain that they get too muddy, but I’ve not really noticed it being any worse for them than it is for my clean legged birds. Maybe I just accept that mud happens.

If you’re not in lockdown, and your humidity is too high, then stop putting any water at all in. You don’t need to maintain a 50% humidity during the first 18 days. Whatever your ambient humidity is should be fine unless it’s down in the teens. I only add water if my humidity goes below 20%...
As far as trimming them, you would have to carefully examine all the feathers to make sure none of them still had their blood supply before cutting them. Sometimes there will be one or two new feathers coming in even when the bird is not molting.
This one isn’t specifically Halloween, but a couple of years ago DH and I visited the grandchildren for Halloween and dressed up as the Mandelorian and Grogu. The grandkids loved it, and loved that we could go trick or treating with them.
