    Will Frost Bite Spot Heal?

It depends on the chicken but typically it will heal just fine. Since it's just the one side the texture of that spot may change but she shouldn't lose anything.

    New Chick No Balance

I'm sorry you couldn't save it. It's never nice losing them. At least you gave it a chance.

Hawk trying to break into pen

Pretty bird. But it definitely needs to be taught to not enter the chicken run.

Help me save a baby turkey!!!

That's good to hear. Sometimes they have a rough start, that was probably all it was. Good luck with the turkeys.

Hawk trying to break into pen

SierraJuliet, he's probably just becoming desperate. I don't know where you live but where I am small prey are scarce because of the dry weather. My mom told me about leaving peanuts or peanut butter on a stump to attract mice to feed the hawk. If he has access to easier mice he should leave...

    Injured foot/leg

It could just be a sprained ankle or hip or a dislocated hip. Either way the best thing s to make sure she eats and drinks enough and let her do it's thing.

Help me save a baby turkey!!!

She may be malnourished. In that case trying to get going with the nutradrench is a good idea. A bit of caffeinated tea or coffee may also help her out a bit. It should perk her up a bit and she might be more willing to eat. This isn't guaranteed, but I've gotten it to work before.

Toe injury on 1.5 week old meat chick

They will peck at it till it heals so you just have to keep him separated till then. Once the wound has closed you can return him to the others.

    chicken broken leg

sylviecolin, as long as she is leading a fairly normal life I wouldn't worry about her. She will probably always trip herself, but as she gets more accustomed to her weird foot she should trip less. Chickens are incredibly talented creatures. fairie, the best thing to do is try keeping the...

    Very thin Sicilian buttercup hen

It could be worms. A good safe cure for that is Diatomaceous Earth. It's perfectly harmless to her but it'll deal with any worms she might have. It's pretty easy to find, most feed stores have it or can get it. Just mix a little into her food. A 25 percent food, 75 percent Earth mixture is...

    New Chick No Balance

It almost sounds like a sinus infection. I've had that happen in some adult birds, but I'm not sure if a hatchling can get it. Other than that it may just be damage to the nervous system or even the brain. I'd suggest giving it a little to see if it recovers on it's own. After a few days you...

Molting hens with pale combs etc.

It may just be stress from molting. The best thing to do is get a feed with a higher amount of protein in it. They should get over it soon.

    SNEEZING CHICKEN?!

It probably is just allergies. I've had a few like that before and it never seemed to bother them any. As long as it isn't in her food or bedding I wouldn't worry too much about it.

    Sneezy chicken

The sneezing is probably nothing, just like if you were to sneeze. I wouldn't fret too much. The eggs, though, suggest a lack of calcium. Oysters shells ground up work great for curing this.

SWOLLEN HEAD, DISCHARGE AND FISHY SMELL

Sounds like you have an infection. In that case you cold try lacerating it & cleaning it out, then bandage it up to prevent anything getting in & making it worse. If you have some bacitracin, put that on where you lacerate it . Keep it away from her eye though. Hope that's all it is.

    One skinny chicken

It could be worms or something like that. You can try mixing diatomaceous earth into the food so she eats it. If that doesn't work, some sugar water may do the trick. It could also be she simply needs more food than the other hen or is just naturally skinny. Don't fret too much unless she starts...

HELP -ONE OF MY HENS ATE A BUTTON

As long as she isn't choking on it she should be fine. Chickens eat all sorts of wierd things. Generally, if it isn't poisonous, sharp or too big to swallow they're fine.

Traumatized Chicken - What to do?

We had a roo that was abandoned & beat on by the other birds at hatching. My mom brought him down to the house & nursed the little bugger to life. He became a 'human chicken' named Lucky, much like your Clementine. We never did manage to get him to properly return to the flock. He lived in the...
