Hello. I am a fairly new chicken owner. About 3 months ago i got 7 six month old hens. About 2 weeks ago I started introducing my 2 8 week old chicks to the older hens. I kept them in a separate coop, but the hens could see them through the wire to get used to each other. I thought things were going really well so after about 2 weeks we put them all together. Well sadly my older hens pecked my one baby so bad they she died. It was tragic. I have now learned that they were way too young to be put together. I rescued my other baby, Clementine and have had her in the house for one week now nursing her back. And here is my problem.... she now doesn't want to go back in her coop. She literally follows me around the house and sleeps in my lap. It is so cute but she honestly just can't live in my house forever. When I try putting her in her coop she freaks out and cries and jumps. She is obviously scared of the other hens. But when I bring her in the house and put her in her box in the house she is content and calms down and just wants to be held. Does anyone know what I should do?
When and how should I transfer her to the other coop?
Should I get her another friend her size so she is not alone?
Any advice would be much appreciated since I am so new to raising chickens and I already love them so much! I just don't want Clementine to be traumatized. Any advice would be great.
Thank you!
