Names are too much fun. Not a suggestion... just that your Lizabel caught my attn... Queen Elizabeth's nickname was Lilibet as a girl & one of her great granddaughter's got named Lilibet in honor.
We named one of our girls "HRH Charlotte, Princess of Cambridge" but we just called her "Char"...
W/ chickens there's no end to keeping the grounds trimmed... trim trim trim around that fence but keep it installed... JMO again... after seeing the wildlife we get in just our suburb (not rural) yard... coyote, raccoon, possum, hawks, squirrels, fox, rats, cats, stray dogs... there's even more...
I'm glad I didn't plant a pine tree now but there are other sticky things that can arise... w/ pets you never know what they'll get into so aforeknowledge is to be prepared.
BFTP 2011 Bela (Bay'lah)
He's got a lot of silver which is very pretty & the boys evolve w/ so many vibrant color changes.
Here's a 7 month Gold/Blue Partridge cockerel & pullet we had in 2011. He was so sweet but we aren't zoned for roo's so we had to give him up☹️. But he took his gentlemanly guard duties very...
I never weighed chicks that way:lau... only the big girls if I thought they were looking scrawny or else too hefty. The best scales were our veternarian's digital office scales. A moulting hen can lose an alarming amount of weight but have gained it back as soon as laying again! So much to worry...
Is pine sap always year-round? or is it worse in summer? or autumn?
I considered a pine tree for the front yard but finally decided on a pomegranate instead... messy but at least it gives fruit that the chickens love & it's easy to rake up dropped leaves.
Digital bathroom scales works well. Stand on the scales to get your weight, then hold the chicken in your arms... the digital scales difference before & after holding the chicken will be the bird's weight⚖️.
I heard some owners keep their roos in a garage w/no windows/no light which keeps them from crowing so much at night. Someone made a padded closet to keep their roo from crowing at night but how that affects roo status in a flock during the day is another question... We weren't zoned to keep...
Slippered toe birds are fun... they break off a lot of toe feathers when foraging or dustbathing... which makes me wonder why they ever needed feathers on legs in the 1st place⁉️
Strawberries... not so much here either... have only one chicken who will nibble them😕
Dana ~ our 8-yr-old strawberry nibbler... sweet thing gave us 2 eggs last week...
