Sunday morning coffee on the porch with Pups. Chickens all came by for their morning ration of mealworms (one scoop scattered for all 15). All of sudden Pups is off like a shot into the lemons. Coyote! Chased it off like a pro. There’s some tasty treat in her future.

Of course now I’m freaking out that the coyote got a taste of Beaky and now wants more. We will have to vigilant, but tomorrow is a work day. I hope we don’t have heartbreak in our future.

Good girl Pup ‼️

Open range... foxes/coyotes... keep the electric fence‼️ You don't really want to lose a hen or a roo❣️JMO
There’s no way to fence our entire farm, and even if we tried to fence the immediate area around the house, which I doubt boyfriend will do, the farm equipment would end up taking it out. The only other option is totally enclose their run and not let them free range. We prefer to free range.

My Princess passed away last night. She was fine yesterday but was found dead this morning.
It's believed she had a heart attack. Crying 😢 😭

I know she had a nice life with you - and then at the rescue with more friends! She was a lucky lady to have been rescued by you!

I know you miss her dearly - but you did very well by her and allowed her to live longer and better than she ever would have.:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

Thank you so much 💓

She was born April 2018. I didn't have a day. I really thought she'd have survived longer where she was.

Wow, 7.5 years is on the older side for our girls, given what we (humans) have done to them genetically. Remember, she had 7 1/2 really wonderful years because of you. Years she enjoyed, developed friendships, and was queen of her relm. :hugs 🥰:hugs🥰:hugs

Two roos?????
Today I noticed this feather that's been sort of sticking out and kind of pointy on "Piccolo/Picabo". It is definitely iridescent with a different pattern to it:eek:

She's in the back, with Mr. Handsome on the right, not sure who's in front

Here's a pullet and her tail, think it's Bea or Olive. Maybe with this Cackle breed line they are all going to get some pointiness in the tail eventually? Gotta look at their web site.
