The Omega Rocks: The Last & Ultimate Barred Plymouth Rock Flock

It's a much more dangerous world out there at night. With as much as you have invested in these guys I'm not sure I would risk it. Glad he went in on his own.
Hey, Mary! Yes, it's a predator paradise at night here. He's not been that much trouble since that day so maybe he's settling down.
Tallulah is going downhill fast. If she's alive in the morning, she is going in the hospital cage to see if I can give more targeted supportive care. Not sure if it's really egg related or if that is a side effect of another issue. She is not eating and rarely drinks unless I put her at the waterer and stand guard so she is not harassed. Ethel has it in for her, unfortunately, realizes she is failing.

I talked with Jamie last night about a lot of things, especially Tallulah. He brought up talking to Peter Brown. Gosh, I haven't seen Doc around these parts in years, not since he was helping me with my first flock of reproductive malfunction queens and then, Zane when he was injured, actually saved his life. He was so helpful and I guess he helped Jamie with something recently. Small world.
Since Tallulah isn't eating, we finely chopped up leftover chuck roast and sprinkled it over plain Greek yogurt. Chickens do not turn down meat in my experience. We put her in the hospital cage with that and water treated with a supplement containing probiotics and oil of oregano. She went for the food immediately. I haven't seen her eat in three days. I am also going to make sure to treat that group for worms for the first time and mites so I'll use Ivermection pour-on first and, in a couple of weeks, Valbazen. I wormed all the others in the spring, but the Omegas were just too young, IMO.

It at least feels better to be doing something that feels helpful for Tallulah. Hopefully she starts to feel better with some good food, and good advice. Hopefully Doc Brown can give you some advice. I just wanted to say Doc Brown being a Back to the Future fan. :)

Christopher Lloyd's Doc Brown, LOL. I sent Doc Brown a message. We'll see if he remembers me from all those years back and can tell me if he thinks it could be something other than just a coming into lay issue and I wanted to thank him for all he did for me back then.
I have to check on Tally, will report later.

ETA: Peter Brown replied and asked for my phone number so he could talk about it with me. Amazing how generous he has always been, but then, I know a few amazingly giving folks from BYC, some regulars on several of my threads.

I haven't heard from Peter Brown. He is likely very busy.
I made Tally eggs and she didn't want to eat it. Then, I sprinkled some chopped up chuck roast on top. Still didn't want it. Later, I had the end of a tomato after slicing it for our burgers and put pieces of that on the food. She ate it immediately. Then, when Bash had his outdoors time, I put her outside with him. I threw her little cup of eggs and roast out on the ground and she and Bash were eating it. When I went back to check on her and put Bash back in his pen, Tally ran me on a merry chase. She was dust-bathing earlier and didn't want to go back in the hospital cage. So she kept going under a chair where I couldn't reach her, LOL.
When she was back in the cage, she sat a while. When I left the barn, she was standing up and picking at her food in a little cup, first time I have seen her even try to eat that. She's had Flock Leader Recover Plus supplement in her water for two days now. If she does recover, she will be a bit easier to handle, I bet, having had such hands-on care for several days.

This morning, Ethel was a bad girl. She refused to go back inside after the Omega's daily outside time. In trying to get her to go back in so I could let my older Rocks out, I made the mistake of wearing my muck boots instead of my hiking boots. I fell twice....both on my right side. So my knee, shoulder, hand, elbow, the side of my right calf and my rib cage are all quite painful. Ethel was really bad today, nothing like my saintly aunt she is named for. 🫤 At least the boys didn't give me any trouble.

Gosh Cynthia, falling is never good. Hopefully you didn't damage anything. Still hoping Tally rallies.
Thanks, Lisa. I don't want to keep doing a stubborn chicken roundup every day. Eventually, i think they'll get used to going in just because I tell them to and not take me on a merry chase.
