I have one just like Nutmeg/Nutmax and thought for sure it was a rooster to be. Yours is almost the same age too. It looks like you stole the pictures from me. My "rooster" has now layed six eggs, six days in a row! I think you will have the experience.
I had the same problem and a french drain did the trick. Once installed though you also have to make sure silt from erosion doesn't get into the gravel or over time it plug the system. I know this from experience.
The gravel around the coop and run is the french drain system. You can see...
These chooks are 20 weeks tomorrow. Any speculation as to what breeds of which they might be composed?
This is Jonhny. She looked like a seagull at 8 weeks. She's my favorite

I grew up with a closet like that and a feeling there was a presence (actually 2, Lola and Henry I called them). Even at age 18, before I went away to college, I was creeped out and sometimes downright scared. And when I did move I felt that presence where ever I lived. Not a closet door...
Here's a better shot of Lucy's full body. Thanks again for all of your help. From first putting eggs in the incubator to building the coop to hand holding while I sweat the hen/roo dilemma, you people have been great. And my son now spends more time watching the flock than playing video...
The two chickies I have questions about were last seen by BYC folks at 4 weeks old. Now they are 8 weeks today and after I get opinions from you nice people I'll just wait it out, which is so hard. I wish my city would allow roosters because at this point I'm pretty attached! SOO rooster or...
I can't remember if we posted to this or not but I can't find it if we did. Anyway started in March the the day we put the eggs in the incubator and with rain, work, and illness stalling us every step of the way we finally finished...well do you every really finished?
