i only recently had an isa brown chicken who was exactly like this. she couldn't walk and would just sit in the dirt away from the other chickens i knew she was sick, i could see it in her eyes. anyway, i put her in a different coop away from the others and she used her wing to prop her self up...
everyone was eating and drinking and acting fine. i'm pretty sure it would have just been one of them shedding their intestinal lining, there were a lot of flies on it, so i bet they were maggots hatched from flies. thanks for all the info, very helpful
Came out to the coop to find a big bulgy lumpy red poo with maggots and half of it brown????
I have a silkie and a rhode island white x isa brown.
would it help if i took a photo of the poop?
nevermind everyone, i couldn't get on the computer to see the suggestions that you guys made but i bet they were helpful, anyway, i came out today and she was dead in the nest . . .
wow, read this whole post and she is such a beautiful chicken and you have a very good looking boy. wat a treasure!
she looks like she has gotten much better..
id say it would have had to be an animal
good luck with the rest of the healing process!

the chicken i have sure looks depressed...
