My Polish has started laying, not my speckled Sussex or silkie. My Polish has been laying everyday for about a month now, now quite sure how she was the first 😂 my silkie is squatting now, so I know she’ll be soon. No signs of laying soon from my Sussex yet.
My 6 month old hen (speckled sussex) has developed "bent toes" in one of her feet. She walks on toes bent, and has been for about a month. She can't perch because of it, either. I've included some pictures. Does anyone know what is wrong or how to treat this? When she was younger she never had...
Hi there. I have 3 Pullets who are almost 22 weeks old (polish, silkie, & speckled Sussex). I haven’t received any eggs yet, is this normal? I had chickens about 8 years ago, and if I remember they layed their first eggs around 18 weeks old.
My speckled Sussex hen has been healthy, however, in the past few weeks I’ve noticed on one of her feet she walks on curled toes. They don’t really open up, and she just walks on her toes curled in a fist (only her left foot). Is something wrong with her? My other 2 hens are healthy. Thank you!
The grey one is the sweetest! And so tiny compared to my other chickens. I’ve always wanted a partridge one, they’re so cool looking. Here’s a white one I had a few years back :)
I was wondering if something was off about him/her’s comb! My other silkie has basically no visible comb which is why I assumed she was a girl. Still hoping the grey ones a girl too :) do you know at about what age a silkie would crow at? Thanks for your help!
I think I’ve got one roo and one hen. What do you think? They’re 14 weeks old, no crows yet. The grey one (suspected rooster) is the smallest chicken I have, which seems weird if it’s a roo.
I have a 10 week old silkie who has always been the smallest of my chicks (smaller than my other silkie too) but now at 10 weeks she is much much smaller. She also doesn’t really do “chicken” things. I don’t see her pecking much, she won’t eat treats (all my other chicks eat treats like crazy)...
Anyone have any guesses on this silkies gender? 10 weeks old, significantly smaller than my other 10 week old chicks (and smallest silkie) and extremely docile. Kind of just stands there and doesnt, barely pecks, doesn’t eat treats, but she/he has been like that their entire life. I don’t know...
Hi there. My chicks turned 7 weeks old today, and I was wondering if you had any guesses for their genders? My best guess is the polish & speckled sussex are pullets, and I think the black silkie may be a pullet and the grey a cockerel? I say that because the grey silkie has a noticably larger...
Hi there, I have 4 chicks, each five weeks old. I've included pictures if you could give your best guess at their genders I'd appreciate it!
Speckled Sussex:
Grey Silkie:
Polish:
Black Silkie:
Looking back at my first batch of chickens, I didn't realize how pretty my silkie & Polish were at the time! Lost them a few years ago, but I sure wish I bred them. Here are some pics of my girls :)
Hi there! Haven’t had chicks for a few years, finally got some new ones. I know it’s early, but I have to ask 😂. Does anyone have any guesses on these chicks genders? They’re 3 weeks and 2 days old. Breeds: speckled Sussex, white crested polish, black silkie, grey silkie. Thank you!
