I got a reply from the poultry expert. She said that she normally doesn't recommend culling the entire flock right off. She couldn't tell me exactly what they have (I figured that) but it was probably either, MG, Infectious Bronchitis, or Coryza. She said that with any of those my chickens...
Crud...Just read the link. So, if it does turn out to be Coryza, they could always be carriers of the virus, and shed it at times through out there life. Ugh...if that is the case, I think I will just have to cull them I am going to wait to see what the Vet at the university says...
Thanks! I will check that out. I just sent an e-mail to the poultry expert at Colorado State University, asking her opinion...so we shall see what she says.
Thanks. What is MG? I need to research symptoms, so I can see if that might be a possibility. I also need to add that the chick that had the severe eye swelling also stinks...another sign or Coryza?
Hi guys. I need some advice from experienced chicken keepers...
It started when I brought home a pair of Bantam Seabrights and, stupidly, did not quarantine them. They began sneezing and had nasal discharge. It quickly spread throughout my entire flock (minus the guineas). It involves...
Well, Cackle Hatchery sent me an e-mail special yesterday, lol. I have 30 straight run guinea keets due to arrive on Wednesday I was planning on getting some next year, but this just kind of pushed it up. I REALLY don't need 30 of them, so I hope to sell about half once they arrive...we...
I realize that not everyone likes to move them to the brooder before they are dry, but they just weren't drying with 85% humidity. I popped open the incubator just a crack and grabbed em out and closed the lid quickly. The humidity and temp were back to normal within a few minutes Number Two...
Not sure if anyone is even reading this anymore, lol, BUT I have one out of the egg, one pipping and MAYBE another starting to pip. Can't quite tell on last one

Thanks for the tip! This time, surprisingly, I have only had that one small temperature drop. Since I put the wet rags in, I have had steady humidity
It has been 9 hours and I only have the one pip. He/she has made some progress but isn't gonna pop out in the next half hour (like...
I think I have a pip!! I see a small little puncture in the side of the egg where a little beak has poked a hole from the inside! It is almost bedtime for me (as if I will be able to sleep)...how long should it take for little bit to make it out of the shell?? At what point should I get...
I have 7 eggs in the incubator. I candled the eggs last on about day 16 or 17...I couldn't see movement, but I was under the impression that when it got that close to hatch time, that you wouldn't see much because they took up most of the space in the egg. I also didn't think I was supposed to...
Ack! I am so nervous. I have seen no signs of pipping...it is driving me nuts, even though day 21 isn't until tomorrow! I am dying here! I want to actually have some chicks hatch, darnit!

After I thought about it, I don't think it got THAT low. That was the digital thermometer on the wire floor which reads 2-3 degrees lower than the one on the eggs . Thanks for the confidence! Thursday makes 21 days. At what point should I give up on them??

This is exactly what I would do. Give her a few plastic eggs to keep her happy until you return the chicks.

I will consider that, but I have brooded chicks my self a few times now, and never had any issues. I don't really want to put them out with the other chickens, as I am...
So, last night when I went to bed (midnight or so), the temp was 100.2 and humidity was 85. This AM the temp had dropped to 96, humidity was still 85...not sure how long it was like that, but I cranked the temp up and got it back up to 101. Humidity stayed the same through out. How big of a...
