    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Well it looks like for the first time since 2012 I will be without geese. I sold Stormy & Ethel today, a long with my saddle back & pied Tufted Roman x Brown Chinese geese. I have Ethel's daughter & a pair of white Chinese left to sell, which I have someone wanting to come get them this week...

You can cover the hole with melted candle wax to seal it up. I've got one I'm about to fill up for my brother's dog. I caught him eating my eggs in the goose house. Got rid of the rats, got a few more eggs & then they were gone again. Thought it was crows this time but nope it's just the dog.

Congrats your eggs are alive! Definitely been fertilized. Ganders are kind of quick and sneaky with breeding. If you have heard long screeching honks then that's been him making the connection. Drakes, unlike ganders, are just horny little perverts of the bird world. Do it anytime, anywhere...

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Well I'm down to 3 eggs. I took care of the pests that were eating them & was up to 9 altogether (6 in the nests) & the dog stole them. I'm thinking something is trying to tell me not to raise goslings this year lol I'm thinking I might rehome all of my geese and take a break from them for...

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

With goose eggs, you won't see any development until days 8-10. Then it will be a spider.

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

I love them, I didn't realize how much I missed raising them. Hubby named the tan one butterscotch, if it were up to him we would keep them all lol. I would too, but I've turned it into a project by documenting their characteristics. Trying to achieve my own version of this cross. I used to do...

I don't blame them, I wouldn't sit in snow to drop an egg either lol

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Here are the little Easter Bunnies. 15 days old & to my surprise were in & out of the nest and all over the cage this evening. The spotted one is a little shy so it didn't quite show itself for pics.

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Mine were locked up for a week and were pouting too much to lay anything. So now I'm on a giant egg hunt.

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

They won't rot unless they are really old, that's why most of us remove the oldest eggs from the nest. They also lose fertility the older the eggs get.

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

I told my younger girls if they didn't let me find their nests or at least start laying in the goose house, I was going to find them new homes. They just ignored me, holllow threats lol

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

I will try to get some this evening, today is the first day it's been warm enough to have them out long enough for pics. They fill up my hand now so they have grown a lot in 2 weeks

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

Sitting for 2 hours is not brooding eggs. They aren't starting to form in that little bit of time so there's nothing to worry about. When they sit to brood, they will stay all hours of the day & night and position themselves like they are ready to pounce.

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

9 eggs so far from my Tufted Roman, Ethel. Still can't find Stormy's nest or the 3 young ones nests. They are sneaky. If I don't find them soon I will probably have a late start on incubating anything. I don't want to have a hatch of just Ethel's eggs, they would be predominantly white. I've...

    West Virginia

Hello, Charleston, WV here. I raise geese, but I'm looking for some rabbits near me. Looking for Rex females and Holland lop females. They don't need to be pedigree stock just purebred adults. If someone has some for sale and are close to Charleston(within and hour or so)could you please message...

    2017 Gosling Hatch a long!!

How old is the gander? I don't remember if you told us the age, sorry. If he's young it might take him a few tries. To know for sure, you can crack one of the eggs and look for a small bullseye on the yolk, that means they are fertilized. Knowing would save a lot of time, would be a shame if...
