EaglesPoint,
About the only way I know toslow down egg eaters is to gather the eggs several times a day for a couple of weeks. Also make sure they are getting oyster shells to make the egg shells a little harder so they are not quite so fragile. You do need to start the frequent gathering...
jmc,
Here's my 2 cents. I have the heritage rir, they are an ok layer. Out of 15 BA, they didn't really lay worth a flip and all last summer I averaged 6 of them at a time STAYING broody, therefore no eggs from them. Very few eggs this winter, as soon as I can make me, they will be donated...
Sorry, I'm one the nut cases who washes with a small amount of anti-bacterial dish washing liquid in lukewarm water. Just can't make myself leave that on my eggs. So far with no problems, may be just dumb luck but I just have to do it. Guess I am compulsive-obsessive...
Don't know where in MS ya'll are, but Crossroads Feed ( in Crossroads MS) was 11.20 yesterday. Circle T in Franklinton LA was 10.50. I probably need to pick up a little extra. Storing it so that the 'possums and the 'coons don't get it is my problem!
I too, have ordered from them and was completely satisfied. The babies were very healthy. Shipping included in their price is a nice plus! And they don't jack up their prices to cover said shipping. I will definitely order again. Their customer service is exceptional, too...
Mornin' Everybody!
Thanks for the info. I knew I could count on ya'll. I didn't know about the difference in the combs. And, of course, now I like the looks of the buff rocks, too. (and the Columbian and the Delawares and the........you get the idea) Decisions, decisions! Thanks...
I have decided I want some white, brown egg layers. I've narrowed my choices down to WR or RIW, but I know nothing about either's laying ability. If anybody has any info or experience with them,
please let me know. Thank you in advance...
Just had to let everybody know I just got my first eggs from the two pullets from spring eggs from pips & peeps. Got one Sun and one today. They are the most gorgeous shade of turquoise blue...very bright. Not sure yet whether both are laying or just one, but they are pretty!!! wish i could...
just wanted to let everybody know my babies from Dipsy doodle doo hatched. My friend and I shared an order and got 16 out of 22. We are really satisfied with her eggs. I would post picture but neither of us has the right kind of camera nor the smarts to put it on the computer if we did...
I'm sure there is a book that explains this color business so maybe BUMPKINS (me) can follow some of it. Can somebody give me the name and where it can be purchased? Thanks in advance...

wheaten and blue wheaten are expected the only way you can get splash wheaten is if the roo is blue wheaten and hen is blue wheaten(or splash wheaten on either), but none give you regular splash
Thank you klf73. I do appreciate the help. It's all very confusing to me.
Marilyn
I still need some help on this color business. When I hatch wheaten/blue wheaten eggs, it's possible to get wheaten, blue wheaten or splash from them? Or do they hatch true and you get wh/ bl whtn? Help! Thanks in advance for info
Welcome Swampwood Glad to have another Louisianian on here, in case you havn't found it yet there are other LA folk on here under the "Where am I? Where are You?" forum. Just look for LA. At least I think that's the title, now that I'm not looking at it I'm not sure. Oh well, age catches...
Hey Everybody,
Just had to let everybody know we just got our eggs from Dipsy Doodle Doo this afternoon. Not only are they pretty eggs, but she is overly generous with extras. My best friend and I are sharing and we are so excited we can hardly stand it......so after a night's rest...
