Does anyone have any experiace with a hovabator? It's been 5 days and I can't get the temp on mine regulated. Last night it fluxuated between 100.9 and 90. Is there a trick to setting the temp or is it just not a good incubator. Mine is a still air with no fan. I do have an egg turner in it though. I've never done this before. I just set the eggs friday night when I though the temp was set.

I have one with turner and the dial is very touchie can't move it very much one way or the other and the temp goes way up or way down. I have both plugs out it is now keeping right around 98 to 99.

Sometimes the "wafer" is bad and it's as simple as replacing it. You can get one at most feed stores for 4 or 5 dollars.

I had 2 bouts of losing temperature in mine last hatch- only down to 96 though- I found both times that the twisty screw on the temperature guage had losened. I plan on replacing wafer before I use it agin just to be safe!

I know other may dissagree but I personally wouldnt buy a hovabator. Some may be good but I have had bad expirience with them...

Thats why I got the 1588. Temp stay at 100 and never moves. The humidity, however, was hard for me to keep steady, but I had two successful hatches out of it. First hatch, 11 out of 12, the second, 9 out of 12. I had two die from the second hatch because I helped them when they probably would of gotten out eventually. I just thought they were in distress. So my mistake.

We just bought a new hovabator with a circulating fan. I found in the older (and it was old...a hand me down) 1588 I was using that the wing nut would loosen on the wafer screw. What we figured it might have been was the vibration over time from the automatic turner. It is minute but constant. On the new incubator, also a hovabator, this has not been a problem. I would suggest replacing the wafer and maybe a new wing nut too. Good luck!
