    Help us figure this out?

Her crop was mostly empty according to my daughter this morning when she let them out. They always have food in the coop. When she let the others out she then made sure this hen got food until she stopped and my daughter said it seemed pretty full (she said 80%). Then she made the hen go free...

    Help us figure this out?

Yesterday she was not doing the breathing thing. And when my daughter brought her in for her special omelet she ate it and then pooped similar to the 2nd one posted above. Then I gave her some layer pellets and she ate them very quickly. Today she hasn't had an omelet and she just pooped...

    Help us figure this out?

This is from yesterday. It was very small, maybe an inch? This was today. Much bigger, but yellowish and foamy. (could it be the meal worm omelets?)

    Help us figure this out?

We have a wellsummer that will be three soon. Every summer she has gone broody. Then last summer she only stopped being broody when she started a hard molt. She lost weight from all this and was just over 6lbs last sept. This week my daughter weighed her again and she is down to 4. She has also...

    Is my chicken a dwarf?!

Now that I see the face/legs I take back the EE. Now that I see the face/legs I take back the EE. I agree might be a might be a wyandotte bantam. Another possibility is an Old English. Look through these pics, there are some chicks with a hen that look similar...

Day one, 9pm. Chick won't stop peeping when I leave.

My daughter had this happen. One would even escape the brooder and hunt her down. At three years old they still follow her around outside. They are great pets.

    Jaguar bantam chick?

Did you ask the store where they get the chicks? That could narrow it down also. I agree with the others, Gold Campine and Blue Cochin.

    Easter Egger sold as Ameraucana?

Sometimes hatchery birds are also so off SOP that they look like mutts. I have a hatchery orphington that is only 4.5lbs. Too big to be a banty, too small to be standard. But either way she is pretty. Hopefully she lays a nice pretty egg for you too. :)

    Coop size

This. Then double it for chicken math. An 8X8 shed could work. Plus run. I am currently building a 8X10 shed/coop with 10X20 run (plus free ranging) for my (currently) 4 large hens. Basically go as big as your budget and local laws allow.

    8X10 coop layout

Those are great! I would love to see how the hardware cloth is attached. Also can you ask your husband what the sizes of the wood are if he remembers? It looks like 1X4 for the frame and 3/4 or 1/2" plywood for the center part?

    Meyer hatchery?

Our current flock is all from there. The BR (current avatar) has a split beak and is the top hen. The BO is apparently a runt, she was small when we got her and I was worried she was a banty, but she topped out at 4.5lbs and has significant black on her tail now at 3 years. She is a sweetie...

    Tractor Supply Chick Days 2018

We went last night and they had signs for ducks, orphingtons, bantums (looked like maybe silkies?), black sex links, cornish cross, and barred rocks.
