Hello, welcome to my page! I am a young mother of three - 3-year-old Aldous, 17-month-old Maddie, and 2-month-old Charlotte! I have been Type 1 Diabetic for most of my life and it's a horrible thing to have, but I shall survive. Got interested in chickens about a year ago; ironically enough, it...

    the worst predetor-man's best friend

So sorry for your loss. Thankfully he sounds like he is willing to keep the dog under control... who knows, it may have been an accident that it got out but it doesn't sound like it's the first time if "one cat" had an encounter with the dog, too. Hopefully it doesn't come around anymore.

    !#*% ! Red Tailed Hawk

I'm so sorry. Hate hawks. One came and landed on my fence, looking around at my birds in broad daylight. My dog charged it and it took off. She was a beautiful chicken. Hopefully the babies will be ok with the other hen.

Chicken eaten dog,. total look of guilt!

I say poor mauled dead chicken! I've rehomed a dog that ate our chickens before. Our chickens are pets, too. If the dog had attacked and killed our other dog I would've done the same thing. A pet is a pet.

My grandson was born 10 weeks early UPDATE post16 PIC on post17

My baby girl Charlotte was 7 weeks early. I never cried so hard in my life, the day I left the hospital without my tiny baby girl in my arms!! Oh it was awful. I know exactly how your daughter feels, God bless her. Your grandson is adorable and the more spunk they show in that NICU, the better...

    Ever "catch" an egg?

I've not caught one yet but I watch them lay occasionally. One of my girls began roosting on my kids' baby pool, and suddenly out plopped an egg into the dry pool!! Of course it cracked and splattered. She didn't so much as twitch.

Dogs and cats - Why is it ok for cats to kill things for fun?

I don't feel it's ok for one animal to be roaming free to do as it pleases, while another is expected to be contained by its owners... I feel like if you got an animal, hey... take care of it. Which includes keeping it on your own property or person at all times. A big problem with cats...

    Kids, our newest predator

Quote: Oh, please. Stop. Just stop. Nobody even knows how old these CHILDREN are. Could be 7 or 8 years old. The OP screamed at them and apparently all they did was run home to cry to their mom, which is why OP stated the mother called outraged that some grown-ups were screaming at her kids...

    What to do with DOGS

Quote: life is always a double edged sword...be very careful which side you swing...your chickens might tresspass one day... for a thread not to be about dogs, it certaintly is emphasised many times... Um...I really doubt a chicken is going to kill someone else's pet/livestock if they get...

    Kids, our newest predator

But... what is Child Protective Services going to do? I hope this is not suggested as some kind of revenge upon the mother. I think the police would be a better resort. sonew123, if you hurt somebody's kid, I think the police would be at YOUR door and rightfully so. You'd have alot more to...

She's broody - and a power layer, apparently!

Quote: They each lay one or two eggs a day, Buttercup sometimes lays three (I think she's done that about five times). So... I'm figuring it's actually been over the past few days, and she had to have laid three at some points because I just threw that bunch of junk back there this past...
