He came from Myers hatchery. I ordered some easter eggers and 6 mystery chicks. So he could be an EE or any other breed they carry. The hens on the right with the muffs are easter eggers. I hope he is because I would love to get some pure bread eggs to hatch. He has blueish legs but not as much...
sorry for the delay but I am not getting notifications of replys, :(. Here is the comb of the dark chick. And after looking at pics online I think you are right on the light colored one being an Ameraucana.
Meyers has a Lavender Orpington, maybe the first bird since it is very light colored compared to 4. They have several BLUE breeds but none have black feet, do the feet lighten as they age?
first one has grey feet and hard to tell on the comb this young but looks like it will be small, rose comb I guess. the blue guy is really pretty with almost black feet
I got an "adopt me" special from Myers hatchery. They are leftovers, so all are pure breeds but no clue what breed. I do know one is an easter egger, they had that listed on the order form, I had ordered my mom 15 easter eggers and I guess it was an extra they sent. but I am not sure which one...
Hi, I got orloffs last spring. Does anyone have any experience with orloffs as mothers? How do they do with chicks? I saw in a chicken breeds magazine at Tractor Supply last week that orloffs don't go broody. Funny, I have had 6 go broody this summer. I have broke the last five from it by...
that was my first thought. But that is just too crazy to be a coincidence. I only have two breeds, Russian Orloffs and a hen and roo pair of Salmon Faverolles. So to accidentally get another fav is just amazing.
My Brooder. I kinda figured it out as I went. I used 2 sheets of particle board, a 4x4 post, 2x3s, misc hardware, shingles and tar paper.
Just moved 14 chicks out to a larger pen and 5 turkey in.
Chicks are here! Out of 8 eggs I got 6 chicks. I thought thery were all faverolle eggs but I guess I'm not a very good egg identifier yet. I got 3 favs and 3 none favs. One is a grey turkin fav cross! has the extra toe.
7 fav eggs in lock down now. I heard peeping when I removed the egg turner. Yea! It will be my first "home laid" fav hatch. I have 3 hens and a roo from eggs I bought on this board last season.
I was just cutting down a carton to try this time and noticed that it looks allot like the trays in my egg turner. I only have two trays in the bator because I only set 8 eggs and wanted room for the temp and humidity testers. The other trays can be laid in flat after removing the turner and...
I have 5 beautiful favs that I hatched from eggs bought here last spring. I want some chicks. Soooo, do favs go broody? I have separated them from the rest of the flock in an adjoining pen. They have been in there for 4 days and still no eggs. How long do you think it will take for them to...

Cool, I'd love to get some.
Edited to say;
Well, maybe not, my mom wants to go in together on a hatchery order so I guess I'll wait til April and get some from Ideal along with some marans and her stuff.
I have 4 salmon fav hens that I want to hatch some eggs from. So as I save eggs to fill the bator, should I try to keep them warm? room temp? what? and how long can I wait before starting?
