    Crested Special/Blue Silkie/Turken/"Packing Peanut" Shipment

They must have had an overabundance of Red Polishes that day! Ha! The peanut is bearded and its legs are darker as well. (And is beginning a pasty butt...) My mom is so excited no matter the type of tophat. (This is her Mother's Day present.)

    UPDATED: Chicks Missing in Transit

I'm guessing No. 1 is the peanut as it isn't a silkie and I'm not seeing much of a crest.

    Crested Special/Blue Silkie/Turken/"Packing Peanut" Shipment

I just received my "missing in transit" shipment from Ideal Poultry this morning. They are four days old and are active, loud, hungry, thirsty, and cute as a bug. (Not a single dead one in the batch even with no food/drink for that long.) I ordered 6 blue silkies (so could be black, blue, or...

    UPDATED: Chicks Missing in Transit

WOW! All are alive! And noisy! And active! They also ate up the Grogel. (I only expected a few to make it so had to spread it out to more places than just the two containers I brought... Hence it being in the container.) Individual pics (minus Naked Necks can be seen here...

    UPDATED: Chicks Missing in Transit

They have arrived at the last facility and are now on the way to my post office. I'm ready for them and have the water in the car to mix with the electrolyte gel that is coming with them. Just waiting for the phone call to say that they are there. I am hoping that some will still be alive but...

    UPDATED: Chicks Missing in Transit

I'm hoping they will be there. But it will be day 4. My understanding is that three days is pushing it. I will be hopeful though that some may still be alive. The post office knows to call me. :)

    UPDATED: Chicks Missing in Transit

I purchased the electrolyte supplement along with the chicks... I'll be sure to bring water and a bowl to mix it in so that I can feed them before I leave the post office. So sad :( Thank you for your honesty regarding their survival possibility.

    UPDATED: Chicks Missing in Transit

I ordered chicks from Ideal Poultry and they were shipped on Tuesday. I called today because the post office still has not received them. The last tracking scan was in Texas on Tuesday so no one has any idea where they are... :( While I am sure that Ideal will make it right for me, I am...

    Gender please!

We have two black silkies which we do not know the gender.. I really was wondering about cockerel with one, but who knows... They are just so hard! AND FINALLY two more... These two are mixed so we know the moms but not the dads... The white one was born around March 1... The one just above...

What breed are these bantams? (Gender obvious)

Not the bigger ones, those are mixed... But the three that are in the pictures throughout... KWIM? They had just been fed corn and were NOT standing still. Thank you!

    Broken Foot... I think...

I can't feel anything wrong... No swelling or blood... She does squawk or anything when I touch her leg in any place... I assumed broken (the other definitely was)... This one can get to the food and water no problem and still leaps up to roost and everything... But just looks so painful...

Splash or Paint Silkie?? I'm confused!

I've got a splash pullet... So cute! I would like to have more though... At first I couldn't stand mom's white silkie, so ugly! But after seeing her all motherly to all the baby chicks that mom has had hatched, you just can't help to like her... Plus she definitely grew on me... DH loves her...

    Broken Foot... I think...

My cochin (got it in March) has what I believe it be a broken food... She started limping a week ago and I hoped she just injured it slightly and it would get better on it's own (as my mom's did), but it is just getting worse... There's nothing to be done right? Just end her misery? She just...

Loud Breathing and Snoring in my New Rooster... What should I do?

Loud Breathing and Snoring in my New Rooster... What should I do?

I just bought a pair of Mille De Fluer D'uccles... I get home and he starts making funny snoring noises and then a sneeze/cough/crow... I tried to take a video of it for you to listen to, but the sound wasn't all that great... No drainage from eyes or nostrils... The seller is reputable. I have...

5 Week Old Bantams... What are we?

Thank y'all! I don't know where our local place buys theirs... They have chick day once a year and they had about 3000 from what I understand... (ducks, rabbits, geese, turkeys, and chickens) Sounds like a hatchery I guess... I haven't gone in and said anything about the "false" advertising...

5 Week Old Bantams... What are we?

All were, incorrectly, marked as Mille De Fleur D'uccles (or you know)... I've asked a few times and was told to keep posting as feathers continue coming in... And MAYBE we'll figure it out :o) Pullet, Single Comb, No feathers on Legs Cockerel, Single Comb, No feathers on Legs, White...

Normal for Light Brahma to Feather so Slow?

Okay thanks... It was in the "mille de fleur" box... Evidently a customer was picking up the chicks even when it wasn't allowed... I asked for three of the MDFs and none of the are... I wish I remember what was in the box next to it... I had two other chicks that feathered in this slowly (GLW)...
