Warning this is long! Everyone's situation is different...I live in the Calif foothills. I'm about 45 minutes to town and an hour NE of Sacramento. I put a battery in my hen house to run a tiny led light. It goes on at about 4 am daily. I have four 7 month old hens that quit laying about 6 wks...
I kept a Moluccan Cockatoo for a few years and he loved raw garlic and dried red chile peppers too. In this case the raw garlic didn't seem to be a problem. Once I married he had to go and he went to a breeder that had a female Moluccan.
ymmv so be cautious,
Greg
Hi Julie,

Thanks so much for your wonderful documentation. My inexperience, still air incubator, and a two-hour loss of power has failed this batch of eggs (I'm on day 23 with no signs of life). During the experiment, I bought the gear and created a chest incubator...it has two light bulbs for heat a...
Sure looks like rat poop to me...my approximate guess to the size of rat poop is 1/2 to 3/4" long by about 1/4" diameter. Rats can naw through most any container except metal. I find that the typical galvanized metal garbage cans if lidded will keep them out. They have nawed their way into my 50...

Hi, Ndestructable
If your sprouts look healthy (no visible mold or mildew) they should be fine...my hens are on the ground and they peck at all sorts of of things.
Young sprouts of Boss, Wheat and Barley are easy to grow and anything under 2 or 3 inches are readily chomped up by my girls ;o)...
