I wouldn't worry about the poop. Here's a good chart to help decide what's normal or not.

Yes, chickens only have the one hole called the vent, but some babies have a "bellybutton" for the first couple days, not really a hole.
Pasty...
I was checking on my chickens to put them up for the night and found one of my hens hiding in the corner. Her feathers were askew so I was concerned. Then I noticed that her ruffled feathers were attached to a flap of skin barely attached to her head. She has no skin on her head from her comb...
He just convulsed and flapped his wings and legs for several minutes and then died.
His legs, wings, and neck were all stretched and very stiff like rigor mortis right before he died but he was still breathing.
Botulism?
I really hope my other chickens don't have it, whatever it is.
This morning I found my rooster in the bushes, hiding away from everyone. When the hens saw him they started to chase him and peck at him so I brought him inside. I then noticed his comb was a very dark purple and he was gasping for breath. He has been in isolation until I can figure out what's...
I have a bunch of extras from Ideal and no clue what they are. I do have suspicions though, and it would be great to have them confirmed.
This one is a roo, I think a OEGB but not sure of the color. It's not apparent in this picture but his tail is really long.
This is another view of...
I'm getting suspicious of my light brahma, she/he doesn't have sickle feathers like my other roos but I heard it's hard to tell with Brahmas.
What do y'all think?
This is my favorite chick. I'm really hoping shes a she but I'm not sure. I also have no clue what breed she is. She looks like a barred rock from the top but has a white chest.
I have a chick about 2 months old who when I first got him, was yellow, however when his feathers started to come in they were red. I was wondering if he was perhaps a sex-link but when I looked it up male red sex links are born white and remain white. What could he be? In addition, is this...
One of my EE chicks is panting constantly and is squinting it's eyes. It is moving around between the heat lamp and the cool area of the brooder so I don't think heat is a problem. It has stopped eating and drinking but I have been dipping it's beak into the water dish. I am really concerned...
I don't think they are japanese since they aren't fluffy at all like those. They are very tightly feathered.
I do think that #2 is a light brahma though. I always wanted one!
Could #1 be a quail belgian d'anver?
I ordered some chicks from Ideal and they sent me 16 (!!!) males for warmth. I know what most are but a couple I'm not sure about.
Chick #1 has a white mask around his face and clean legs.
Chick #2 is a bantam with feathered legs. He's larger than chicks 3-5 though.
Chicks #3-5 are tiny...
I got some chicks yesterday and everything was going well but when I went to check on the chicks this morning one of the EEs was panting heavily. I assumed it was overheated and placed it near the waterer and away from the heat lamp. It took a drink and went back under the heat lamp and...
Well,. I decided I would finally try incubating my own eggs . I ordered a dozen from Crazy K Farms and added in about five of my own.
It's been four days and everythings been going smoothly until just now. I walked into my room to find that the temp on my bator was at 110.
I checked it about 2...
