Does anyone clip the wing feathers of their chicks after they are a few weeks old. Mine seem to do better if they don't have to drag those heavy wings around. They grow back out and arre soon moulted anyway. But it does seem to help the chicks.
Had a hawk dive at my bantams today,apparently it couldn't see the wire! Bounced right off and set on the ground befuddled for a monent. Scared the bantams real good though. Now I have to figure out how to get the hawk(houses to close to shoot at it.(
Wish everyone would make the switch,I hate having to go thru both forumns and so many use both as posting sites!. Lets make a decision to all come here or all go back. I hate to just shut down one site and miss a lot of folks but I think I will close off on the old site and hope they all finally...
Well its still cold,cold here in upper middle Tennessee. In the twenties. Have a muscovy hen and golden lakenvelder laying. Its a challenge to get ther eggs in before they freeze.
Noticed the canaries on the feeder outside my window are showing a bit of yellow,the summer colors are moulting...
Got a roo and five hens at an auction tonight. They seem kind of flighty,does anyone have any?is this a trait or maybe they are just scared from being moved and handled. I was excited to get them for $6 each! They are rare around here.
