    Muscovy ducklings not eating

Hello, I was hoping someone with more experience with ducks might be able to help me as this is my first time raising ducks. I am raising a batch of muscovies for meat, and two of the ducklings are not eating and do not seem to be trying to figure out how too. One is very small and I have...

Using wet grain in place of dried

This is sort of a tricky question, I will try and phrase it as best I can - Spent grain is 72% water, fresh (approximately). That means that out of 100 lb, if you dried it you would end up with 28 lbs dry spent grain. So if you were mixing say 5 lbs of corn (assumed 7.5% protein) and 5...

    More Meat pigeon questions

Would Utility Kings dress out at a minimum 16 oz? And how careful do I need to be buying in pigeons as far as my other poultry and disease is concerned? There are two guys I'm looking at buying from, I don't know how well known they are: http://www.utilitysquabbingkingpigeons.com/index.html...

    Best meat breed?

What is the best breed or some of the standard breeds for meat production? I have heard of Silver King but hear they also have low fertility rates. Is this true? I am looking for a good meat breed that can reproduce well. Thanks

    Tired, not eating gosling

I have a 5 month old gosling who since this morning is just laying around sleeping, not interested in grass, grain or water. Yesterday he was eating a little but for the most part was lethargic and uninterested in food. He can walk, but is slower then the rest. About a week and a half ago...

    Live-weight versus dressed?

Does anyone know how much weight is lost when butchering a guineas? I read that a 2.75-3.25 pound (live weight) guinea will dress out at 2.25-2.75 pounds cleaned. My guineas look awfully small too me too dress but the meat ones weigh 3-3.25 pounds at this point.

    Not roosting?

My guineas have no problem hopping out of the coop into their run in the morning (the door is large, maybe two and a half feet off the ground and by no means obstructed) but every night they all bed down underneath the coop or at the other end of the run and don't go in. I have seen at least...

    Breeding blue ducks?

Just curious, are the blue genetics for ducks the same as chickens (excluding self-blue)? If you breed blues together will you get black and splash as well with types like Blue Runners and Blue Swedish? Thanks

    Cooping guineas?

I will be raising 30 guineas over the summer, and am wondering how much coop space to provide? They will have an outdoor run which they can be in all the time except for night, and by the time winter comes I will have sold most of them so space should not be an issue then - But as far as indoor...

    What went wrong?

I put two 10-month cockerels in the freezer yesterday, and this morning I noticed a lot of the skin has turned dark. Why would that be? I put them immediately in the freezer, could that account for it?

    Guinea fertility?

When do guineas reach their peak fertility? Like chickens are 6 - 18 months, geese are years 2 and 3 . . . When do they start laying, and are they seasonal or will they lay anytime? Thanks

    Knock kneed genetics?

How do knock knees work? I have never had to deal with them, but have some birds of a beautiful strain, but they are knock-kneed. Will ANY normal kneed birds result from a knock-knee to knock-knee mating, and what about a knock-knee to a normal kneed bird (I could breed them to my other...
