My 5 and a half year old buff orphington has pale comb and wattles, breathing through her mouth, laying down, and her poop looks like tar. I currently have her set up in my room with some egg and kefir which she isn't interested in aside from a few small bites. What could it be?
Recently our Welsummer hen has been ruthlessly attack our speckled Sussex to the point of a bloody head/comb, and even her perviously friendly Dominique flock mate has joined in the bullying.
Since yesterday when the injury incident I've let the Sussex have free roam of the yard as her save...
We have a nine month old serama pullet who is both overweight (20 Oz.) and has a lot of trouble laying.
She only started laying about a month ago, and when it comes time to lay she wanders around stressed and squawks with discomfort.
Her diet has been restricted to pretty much just layer...
Just yesterday our hen hatched a little chick, and every time our rooster sees it he goes into not a cackling episode and won't stop. He is usually very good around babies, and it's worrisome. Please help
Yesterday, I experienced the event that pet chicken owners dread, the untimely death of a hen. With that, I figured I'd share some of her history, and how much she meant to me.
Zelda was an Astralorp approximately 2 weeks old when we acquired her, by then we had gradually introduced the...
Our little 2 year old serama hen has been straining a lot when she defecates which sometimes prolapses, her cloaca makes makes a lot of noise when she preens too . She'll start breathing heavily on occasion, usually I hear it when she's just hanging out on the couch or standing behind me.

Just found today that one of our Serama hens has what looks like a pulled nail, the nail is still attached, but it's twisted and the vein is a dark red, and she doesn't like it being touched, but other then that she's walking around and doing fine it seems. but I just wanted to know if there's...
My 9 month old serama cockerel has been showing cold-like symptoms: raspy voice, clogged nose and sneezing. Aside from that he's doing fine. We currently have him in a pet cage near a vaporizor to hopefully help with his nose.
What sort of medicane should I give him and at what dosage? (he's...
For a while now, our chickens have been laying eggs where the tip is wrinkled, or protrudes a little.
I'm just wondering if it's of any concern, or do they need something in their diet.
They were raised by their mother, and loving owners. Since 3 days old we have handled them daily and are quite docile. Only serious inquiries please. We would like to be able to stay in contact, get updates on them.
It might seem like a lot, but we love them very much and want them to live...
Raised indoor with parents and loving humans. Very friendly, handled daily since they were 3 days old. Caged, but get run of the house often. Serious inquaries only please. It's going to be difficult to see our little darlings leave... we'd like to stay in contact and have updates.

our indoor rooster has been sleeping a lot and it worries us, we gave him so egg and he ate that but that's it, he doesn't even want to try mounting our feet ( he does that :p) or seem interested in dancing for the outdoor hens. A few weeks ago we gave him antibiotic tablets by mouth twice daily...
recenly (about a week ago) our family serama hen "Erma" started to brood on a nest of six little eggs, she is very comitted and only gets off maybe once or twice a day to eat, drink, releave herself and take a pretend dust bath on the carpet floor , that gives me the oppertunity to candle the...
For the past few months our roosters skin near the vent has been bright red, he did have lice for a while, but has since then been dusted. Aside from that he's perfectly fine, eats, drinks and is frisky for the hens.
For the last month our house kept serama hen has been broody, she was on 2 eggs for the longest time, but they unfortunatley didn't make it.
Even though there is no eggs she still gets in the nesting box even then the cage is closed off, or then with her roo, then I tried putting a good sized...
Ever since she was a day old chick, our buff orphington "millie" as always held a special place in my heart.
She's just a big, fluffy sweety, and eagerly gets up on my lap to cuddle when I enter the run, yep millie is my little angel......or is she?
It wasn't till recently that I found out...
My serama hen has been sitting on her eggs for 26 days now, I have candled them a few times throughout that time and never once saw movements, but they have obviously been growing, right now it's all dark and just the air sack in visable which it has been for some time now, should I just take...
A few days ago, it was in the late evening and was time to close the girls up, so dad goes out to the coop to close everything up, a moment later he comes back in and tells me how my chicken (millie) has been sitting on the pirch below the others lately, I nod and he continues on to say that...
