Say a rooster was making long high pitched whining noises several times a day, would that be a concern that needs to be checked?

I love that sound....it's rooster talk.

Roosters make all kinds of noises all day and even at night if they feel so inclined. I would try to figure out what the noise is in responce to just for peace of mind but it could be as simple as calling to the hens or seeing a mouse. They continually keep the flock informed about food and danger and even can calm them by making certain noises. I wouldn't be concerned unless it was really loud. Usually just because the louder the noise the more of an alarm they are sounding.

That's a relief, he always has something going on that it's hard to tell.

There's just one other thing I wonder about, when he is picked up he falls asleep instantly, could that be some form of narcolepcy? other then that he eats and drinks often, runs with the flock and so forth.
