20 eggs in the home made bator, 4 hatched already before I got home, I thought they would be hatchin tomorrow, so were doin good. All 4 seem fine and are almost dry, gonna get ma a chair some barley pop and watch the action tonight. It is a first time hatchin anything, so I am curious as to how...
Well the hatches are secured... 20 eggs all seem good to go... Should be Sat morn if there on time. Who knows, temps have been good, H has been good so we'll see. Keep ya posted. Hope there ready for Thanksgiving.
I know a fresh egg has a and light blue tint, ones in the bator I can't see thru, I am goin into lock down and want to remove any bad ones so they don't burst and nasty everything up... any clues? links? Thanks. Hope Saturday will be the big day, never tried hatching before, lookin forward to it...
Have some eggs in the bator, and just hand turning. Well the problem is some like to roll back or not how you want them to stay... I was thinking ice cube trays, but didn't really find any suitable for this. While moving some plants around it hit me, cut down one of my air pots... worked like a...
Took some eggs chicken and quail to the neighbor along with a ripe Payapa and was going to pic a few avacados in trade, well he said I have something for you... bag of Lobster tails he catches from the Keys. Gonna have to bring him some meat birds soon.
Hey all... Still waiting for my eggs from the coop comp, so I set some in my homemade bator keeping the turner one free. I have been turning 3-6 times a day, so I assume that is enough? As far as H here in Orlando, it's like swimming when ever your out side... no water in the Bator= 45pct, I...
Made a cooler bator and it is holding temps nicely with < 1/2 deg change... I made a turner out of some dowel rod and a lil wood, and it works great. I put 25 in there to give it a go. First time trying, but have read plenty here so I think I will be good to go. I'll keep y'all updated.
I noticed one of our Rir's pickin the butt of out BR hen, I got her when she went in and there is an infestation of smaller than fleas running wild when exposed to the light. I looked at another but none, so what do I need to take care of this I'm sure it has to make her feel miserable? Her vent...
No she isn't and isn't laying yet, and I am unsure of age. So I have a lot of variables, but it's the wife's pet and were going to place Quail eggs under when she is, so My question I guess is?... How often does your silkie go broodie? at what age? I imagine she will be laying in a month or...
I figured my RIR would lay first but our Ameurcana did... The wife found it while I was at work, a lil green one, I'm sure the others aren't far behind... seem like it has been forever since we got them as chicks, and it was all worth it!!
It's Fri and I imagine I will get my eggs tomorrow, Incubator is up to temp for the last 3 days and holdin steady. How about ya'll jump on this thread and keep us posted of hatch rates and such... I have never hatched any kind of bird, read a lot and I feel confident doing it. I have a still air...
I have 2 cages, with 4 hens and one roo, well the latst 5 I got had 2 roos. The deal is I swapped the orgional roos, but left a 7 week and a 5 week in the same cage to get the #'s even like I had planned. I need to mark one of the 2 roos for ID til I get my other hen. I will see hot they get...
Picked up 4 more hens and a roo, so that makes 10 total... I swapped the roos since I don't know their bloodlines and want to avoid inbreeding. One set is seven weeks, and one is 5 weeks so I guess it won't be long now. It's funny that the newest batch I got this morn is a lot less skittish than...
I guess I didn't get jumbos lookin at the breast...

I'm not complaning, their heavy for their size, but?
Man I know their cheap, but why do they rape you with shipping? Buy the way Egg Carton.com has a free shipping gimic, but didn't have waterers but I did get Quail trays for the turner, and belierve it or not not Piping bags for the wife....
I hear you store eggs to hatch around 60 deg. Well in Nature when a hens broody, I assume she lays one a day, and dosen't sit on them, so they all hatch at the same time? So why would one need to store at 60 or so?
There on the lake behind the house, I have been throwin scratch out for them and they don't leave... kinda like the cat you fed once a month ago. I am assuming there amix? I do know there is a breeding pair of wood ducks around that just had young a week or 2 ago. The wife likes the Pekin ducks...
Well my roo just started crowin a day or two ago, how long til they start laying? There right at 6 weeks of age... How long til I try and incubate some eggs, I imagine a month or so after they start layin? Thanks all...
I need to get an auto waterer set up... I have no problems making what I need, but which way is better the nipples or cups? Not worried about a few drips, since there on wire, but the 5 of them go thru a lot of water, and it's always dirty...Thanks
