    messy nest boxes

    so first: yay!!!! one of my chickens have started laying!!!! but heres the thing: they keep their nesting boxes very clean, until they lay the egg! then its a mess! they did out the newspaper and pine shavings and toss it onto the floor of the coop! dont know really what to do

    help! how do i keep my chickens from pooping in their nesting boxes??? the nesting boxes are near the bottom of the coop so under the perches, so they must not be sleeping in them...??? any suggestions???

    right now my lovely chickens are about 18 weeks, and i have read that this might be a little bit young for laying, but I'm a little confused about when to put the golf balls in the nesting boxes? Should i put them in once the chickens start to lay, or before? Thanks a ton!
