I have three hens (did you guess that already?) and two of them have been broody for about two weeks which means one egg a day for us. The two girls sit on top of each other in the nesting box all day and night. I move them off about twice a day despite being pecked and fluffed at.
Yesterday...
I don't have a rooster so there's no reason why my hen should have stayed in the one nesting box all day long right? Now what do I do? I lifted her off and tried to put her on the roost but she wouldn't take it and just sat on the floor. I took the three eggs she was on and the golf ball away...
I put a golf ball in the nesting box that our three chickens share, well, are supposed to share. Only one has been laying until yesterday when we got two eggs, one in the box, the other in the run. The golf ball was in the run last week which seemed curious. Today, I saw the one who I think...

I'm new to this chicken thing-only a few weeks into it. We built a chicken tractor with a 4x3 house and a 4x9 run, 3 feet tall. We have three white leghorn/RIR mixes who are almost 22 weeks. They are flighty and nervous but seem happy otherwise. They aren't laying yet, which is frustrating but I...
Well, I moved the waterer up a couple of inches (on top of an overturned short pot) b/c I was emptying it out constantly o f dirt/debris. Now that it's higher, one stands on top of it and poops right in the water. How do I stop her from getting up there? I can't hang it b/c the handle broke and...
We have three 21 week old (on Thurs) white leghorn/rhode island red crosses. They've been with us for about two weeks in our chicken tractor. We've never had chickens before!
They aren't laying at all and kick the straw out of the nesting box. I thought leghorns were early layers. The box is...
