I rescued some chickens from a not very nice place. I have no idea what they were fed there. How long should I wait before eating their eggs? I'm letting them free-forage, with some extra protein to help them re-grow their feathers.
I made a chicken rescue on Friday, and now have a beautiful buff Orpington rooster with three buff Orp hens and a buff Rock(?) hen. They are pitiful looking. The Orp hens have almost no feathers on their backs and "shoulders." The Rock is a bit bedraggled, but looks much better. They all have...
I lost a lop today. When I went out to check the rabbit hutches this morning, she had burrowed her head into one corner and she was barely alive. I brought her inside to check her over and see if she could be saved. She has no marks on her, no blood and nothing else seemed unusual. She was very...
I received five angoras -- no idea what kind -- that have horribly matted wool. I've tried to cut some of the mats out, but I'm terrified of cutting their skin. Suggestions?
Ive got my runt, who appears to be a hen -- strong eyeliner and defined V on her head. I've got one who appears to be a roo -- faded V and messy eyeliner. Then Ive got one who is in between -- pretty strong V, but messy eyeliner.

The neighbors moved and abandoned their dog and two cats. I re-homed the dog, but the cats have eaten almost half my six week old chicks. I can't catch them and I can't shoot them. Im not totally averse to killing them, i just dont have a gun.
(Btw, all three of my mystery chicks are gone. The...
I'm trying to figure out what this chick is. It's almost three weeks old. If this picture up,iAds, I'll upload more in my next post.

I have four hens and a rooster. Normally, they put themselves "to bed" every night at dusk. Tonight, however, one of the hens was missing when I went to shut the coop door. I found her under a bush next to the house. This is where three of the four hens always lay their eggs. One of the others...
