I havery the little giant foam, still air incubator with optional turner from tsc. Hatching quail, ducks, standard and bantam eggs. All seem to be hatching 7-10 days later than they should be. Checked the temp in bator with 2 completely different thermometers, I keep it between 99-100° f. Entire...
My birds are 1yr old mixed flock. Last month they stopped laying. And they are boney, fluffy but not much meat. They free range, so I expect some leanness but not this much. I started supplementing with layer feed at night. My chicks are given medicated feed exclusively until they are 2 months...
I was getting an egg a day from my 2 female pekins. Last week I took in 2 more females and added 2 month old female ducklings to the pen. And now my girls aren't laying. Is the stress of the new additions causing the stop in egg laying? Or could it be something else? Everyone is eating, drinking...
I bought these three standard bronze chicks in march. I think I have 2 males and a female, but would love a second opinion.

I'm planning on sealing my Styrofoam incubator, to help with cleaning and reduce bacteria growth. Was thinking to use flex seal sorry, has anyone else done this? Any ideas on sealing the foam?
Can anyone help me figure out if these are male or female? And what breed frizzle I have?
The one in front is sitting on the side of the container, so it appears to be the same size as the other one. But its actually only about half as big as the other. Both where born in February.
I've gotten pretty good at sexing my chickens. But this last group of barred chickens has got me a little stumped. I'm hoping someone can help me.

A few weeks ago I go hatching eggs and put them in the incubator. We didn't give them to the turkey, the chicken hen kept stealing the nest. But we finally got the c.hen caged and now the t.hen is sitting on dummy eggs. The incubator eggs are about a week from hatching. My question is: when...
I bought a few new additions to my flock last month. Problem is that now I'm not sure which is which, as they are in with the mutts that I hatched out last month. And I need help sexing my silkies, these are my first.

I have roughly 20 chickens. This morning one of my hens started sneezing. Other than the sneezing she seems fine. She's eating and drinking. No new birds, other than ones I hatch myself. They free range, and I use pine shavings in their coop. Any ideas?
Several of my flock have had watery poop. The weather has been cool, no one seems ill, hens are still laying, everyone is eating and drinking fine. any ideas??
My 2mo old chicks are pecking at my feet. I recently started moving them from the grow-out house(goh) and run into the yard with the rest of the flock. They still have access to the run through a chick door that is too small for my adults. And at the same time I began weaning him off of the...
I'm thinking of painting the inside of my 3 coops. My thought was to use a latex/water whitewash and dusting with DE b4 the white wash dried. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
I currently live in Polk county, Florida on a ½ acre, but I have access to my parents' 100 acre ranch that butts up to mine on 3 sides. I currently have a mixed flock of 15 birds that free-range. I'm looking to add more birds this next spring, but I'm not sure what would be the best dual purpose...
I'm processing 3 roosters this weekend. I have a good idea of how to do it. I've processed small birds and rabbits before, just never a chicken. My thought was to skin the birds rather than go through the labor intensive process of defeathering them. Also, I de-skin chicken when I cook it, as I...
I've gotten pretty good at sexing my birds, but a few of my younger chicks have me confused.
I'm gonna post a side pic and a comb pic, then my guess at what it is.

We live in Central Florida, and my older hens stopped laying about a month ago. I figured it was due to the change in the amount of daylight. Now all of a sudden, my younger hens have started laying. Kinda confused now. No one lost any feathers, so i don't think they stopped to molt. I don't...
