Seems like I remember my grand father getting some younger birds once, because the old ones egg production slowed way down.
He blamed it on their age.

It is always an issue when my wife and I take a trip. Who do we get to care for the animals. For my hounds I use automatic feeders and have their water plumbed and connected to an automatic water system.
What do you guys do for the chickens?

I am considering constructing the floor out of construction cloth. Or at least that's what I have heard it called. It's the small 1/2" square mash wire.
They can walk on it, poop through it and in the Florida heat, it should keep the inside cool.
I'll design it so if we ever do get any cold...
I live on a little over an acre and thought it would be nice to have a few chickens for farm fresh eggs.
