I ordered a coop and it came looked a little small to me has four nesting boxes and enough room in the middle for probably up to six hens I'm getting 10 hens and I ordered another Coop with the same size I figured I'd put both in the same run and that they were just divide themselves up...
Hi, when designing my coop should the roost be higher than the nesting box ? or at the same level ? Or does it even matter to the birds ?

I hope some one can tell me why, would I find eggs outside the nesting box, that appear to have been pecked or stepped on ? The egg shells are hard and over all the eggs look to be fine ( except the obvious damage). I thought maybe it was a territorial thing?? Any reasons, or theories would be...

I'm going to fence off a 20'x20'x20'x20' area in my yard. I have 2 birds, 1 RIR & 1 Bantam? ( see pics below) I had 4 but my dog got 2 of them........... hence, the fence. I would like to know how many would be comfortable in that size area, & what breeds are best to mix & socialize...
.....start using the roost to sleep? My birds are still young, not sure exactly what the ages are, I'd guess 2 months or so. please see pic below. I noticed they are sleeping in a group on the floor. Thanks

I am new to raising chicks,
I want to add stalls on to my coop. I have 4 birds. 2 bantams, 2 Rhode island reds, How wide should the stalls be for each bird? What is the primary purpose of the stalls? Sleeping, or laying eggs?? I appreciate any help .
