My Bordrock ladies have missing feathers and my other ladies, 2 RIR's and 2 Buff's don't. It's not molting related. It's been going on for sometime now. I have cleaned, dusted changed bedding regurally. Fresh water good food / scratch and clean greens. Daily outings in the back yard...
Hello,
last week I lost one of my year old RIR hens to pneumonia and Ecoli( I sent her to Davis) to be tested for West Nile Virus. Anyways..I got 2 new baby RIR and theya re too cute.
No names yet as I just call them 'Sister Chickens" and we will take it from there.
I am in Sunnyvale and I hve a broody BO and need some Fertile egg''s for her. Also if theres anyone out there that would like the chicks tht would be great too.
So Were can I get fertile eggs for my wannabe Mama hen.
..Sooo I don't know if this is PC ir not but I was thinking of "borrowing" a Man for my girls and giviing them some babies. Um how doI find a "stud" for them..lol I would advertise the chicks for sale as I cannot keep them all no matter how gosh darn cute they will be.
Ok I use the pine shavings and I have one hen that scratches all the shavings out of all 6 boxes! beside the shavings what can I use so she doesn't do this any more and the eggs are layed micely and not broken also.
THANKS!
Went to gather my eggs this morning and found an egg with out the shell on it.
So what causes this to happen? Thanks. I'll post a picture in a moment.
Thanks.
I have a BO hen that seems to be Multing now. (We resently put a headlamp in the coop for them during this freeze that is going on) is this normal for a hen to mult now??
Help or I might have to start knitting
Her a scarf.
I have 3 RIR and they are over 6m old and still are not laying. Are these a breed that need more time to mature as I am ever so patient for then to lay.
They are eating laying pellets and scratch and good greens. So what's up?
I was talking to my neighbor and mentioned that we feed greens to our ladies and scratch and laying pellets and she interjected with. "Careful with feeding them too much greens they will stop laying." I was WTH? I have never heard of such a thing and was taken aback by that.
So is that...
Hello,
I have 3 RIR's and one of the Pullets keeps going in and out of a nesting box. Is this a possible sign that she might be ready to lay?
Also, we have a Ginko Tree in our back yard that has shoots on it with leaves ( well it did but the chickens have ate what they can reach) is ginko ok...
Here are the babies I got yesterday. They were kinda in a corner so I took a quick pic befor the jetted off lol. They still need Names.
Then here is the RIR I also got yesterday. She sounds like she is "Honking" when she clucks so we actually named her "Goose" It fits. Lol
Hello,
So here is my little flock for my backyard. I had 2 Roo's but brought them back and got 1 RIR and 2 BR Chicks. Those picks will come later today when I can get a good shot of them with them RUNNING allover lol.
Here is the 2 Roo's and the 2 RIRs: The 2 white speckled ones are a cross...
I have 4 pullets and well one is a Roo we think..so right now they are all eatting chick feed when should I switch too laying mash for them? If I remember right as it's been a few yrs since Ihave had chickens I switch when they start to lay right? Let me know if that is correct.
Thanks, Nina
