    I tried this once. I'll try again! How long do eggs stay capable of germinating once laid, without being put under a broody hen or into an incubator?? All I know is to keep them at ambient temperature. ?? : ) THX for any knowledge.

    Hi out there. Does anyone know when an egg ceases to be viable? I mean after the hen lays it, how many days will it continue to be capable of germinating before it is either put under a broody hen or into an incubator? All I know is to keep them at ambient temperature ??? : ).

    HATCHING W/O AN INCUBATOR

    Can I jerry rig something to hatch my eggs in without buying an incubator? I'm getting rid of my roosters and have only fertilized eggs right now so it seems silly not to try to hatch some. This is a one time thing so I don't want to invest in an incubator. THX for any info. :D

    how im[ortant is egg position?

    A friend with an incubator offered to hatch some eggs for me, said to collect 10 or 12 before bringing them to her. She said to be sure to place them pointed end down. I remembered the first day but forgot the next and following. Does that mean only those first two that were correctly positioned...
