My hen is an older hen, 10 years now, and she just started having these odd looking stools. We have not changed food or anything else in their daily routine. Does this look like something I need to worry about? Any feedback will be very much appreciated.
Our girl, who is 9 years old, has a swollen abdomen which is red and warm to the touch. She is eating and going about her day as usual, but obviously something is wrong.
Im really hoping someone has an idea how we can help her.
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding my little Cochin’s beak. As you can see in the pictures, her upper beak appears brittle, flaky, and is now beginning to curve upward a bit. Her name is Bootsie, she is nearly 11 years old and appears healthy outside of this. Does anyone have any ideas...
My RIR has fowl cholera and what we found as a treatment is oxytetracycline. Our TSC only had Liquamycin LA-200, which I am not sure on a dose or whether I can give it in the drinking water or by injection only? Any help will be appreciated.
I have a couple sick chickens who may have cholera, and from what I have read, it can be treated with oxytetracycline. When I went to TSC, all they had was Liquamycin LA-200, and what I’m wondering is can I put this in their drinking water, treat everyone since it’s so contagious. If I can...
I am at a loss with our beautiful Rhode Island hen, who is 4 years old and has a bummed leg. The soreness in her leg started at the knee, which is still slightly red. Now it is in the ankle area, redness, very tender but no sore or scab like I’ve had my other hen with bumblefoot. She has been...
Does anyone know what is causing these grainy specks on the shell as well as dispersed in the white of the egg? Often when this starts, her eggshells get very thin and easy to break. Any info would be so appreciated??
It's me again. As I've said, our peahen just appeared in our yard a couple of years ago and she is just allowing us to come within 5 feet, is now living with the chickens, but I no way lets us touch her! Well, when she came out of brooding after a week, her eye looks like this!! Please, any...
We have a peahen who stopped to visit one day, 2 years ago, that never left and is now living with our chickens . Well, about a month ago she started laying an egg here and there, until last week she went broody and hasn't left the nest she made in our coop. The problem is that her egg is not...
I have been treating this with vetricyn with changes of bandage twice a day. Without any vets who treat chickens in a large radius, does anyone have a suggestion?

This angel dropped by our chicken coop a year ago and never left, which we are happy about!!! I am almost positive the beauty is a peahen, but I am not a peafowl expert in the least :). So I have come to you all for some help on the topic. I hope my picture attached ok, but if not let me...
This is Ricky, our handsome Roo, who we raised from little chick on all the while handling him and giving lots of love. Well, once maturity hit, Ricky of course became protective of his girls especially since spending more time in the coop during our below zero temps here in the far north. I...
My family was blessed with an unexpected guest at our home starting last summer, her name is Clook and she is in the image below. Well she hung around, probably because of our chickens, who she was quite fond of. Come fall when the temps were changing we were able to coax her into the chicken...
We are new to this site and 5 months into chicken raising, and we LOVE It!!!! What we are stumped with is whether our little ones are roo's or girls?? The top pic is of 3 of our cuties, the one of the left is Peep, the middle is Rose (or Ricky :-)), and the one of the far right is our cute...
