Hi, Fiiiinnally!!! Our first egg. One of the RIR layed one this morning (you could hear her blocks away). She layed under the blackberries in a very inaccessible spot, and she is staying on it. What do I do? Take it when she gets up and replace with golf ball? They have a nice coop...

Are you still waiting for your 1st egg?

I am. I have 10 girls 22-23 weeks, 6 different breeds-and NOTHING!!! I love my girls, but I want them to be more than ornamental. I've had egg song, squatting, beet red comb/wattle, etc. and still no eggs. Lights, golf balls in the nests, nice roomy coop, etc. It has to be soon, right?

    Egg Dreams?

Does anybody have egg dreams? I'm still waiting for my first egg, but I had the strangest dream: I hard boiled their first egg, and it looked just like a normal egg, but when I peeled it, it was metallic and sparkly and beautiful.

Hi All, I'm a newbie with my first flock of: 2 b australorps, 2 RIR, 2 GLW, 2 SLW, and 2 Buff orpingtons. They are aged from 6-8 weeks. I know next to nothing, but my 2 australorps seem to have very different comb areas. One has a very small single comb starting like the RIR & buffs, and the...
