SO my turkey hens were laying eggs in one nest, ended up with 38 eggs, I did not know there were that many. Three babies died from getting crushed and started to rot. A few eggs were also rotten and cracked. Two babies are alive well and healthy. I took the remaining eggs and candeled them, only...
Today is day 23 for my hen and her clutch of 26 eggs (was 27 but one rolled out two days ago and I brought it inside and candled to see a live moving embryo so I put it in the incubator).
She is in a 10x12 pen which I have "poult proofed" lined the chainlink from the inside with 1/4" mesh. She...
Hi last night was day 26 heard peeps, then a pip and hatched out at 3am this morning. He is dry, but he is not walking, or standing. His toes seem a little bit curled. He also has a unclosed navel with a teeny tiny bit of a yolk showing like the size of a O on your keyboard. I have him warm, but...
I have a single poult that hatched 5 hours ago. about an hour ago I found the humidity dropped and he was slightly stuck to the metal screen in my LG. I opened the bator and moistened it and he was free, he still has not stood up, or dried. What should I do at this point, he's just laying there...
I have a poult hatching that is knocking other eggs off of their axis that I marked. Will this affect them?
Thanks, this is my first time actually getting one to hatch!
Hi, the owner of our local feed store gave me four eggs from this combo. Has anyone here crossed these two? Because the roosters breed lays brown and the hen lays blue will I lose the blue egg color? Or will there be a chance to keep it? Hope they hatch, will keep you guys updated.
So this is my first time, eggs are in a little giant with a auto turner. Have fought and fought this thing to matain a temp.
I had SO LITTLE faith!!!!
I saw every egg tonight, first time I've opened it. The wife and I saw a MOVING embryo in every egg....time out of the Incubator was less...
Well we got our first egg today! Stoked. Laid in the nesting box I built!
Since my tom has been mating my hens I am assuming it is fertile, so I took it out of the nest (it was dark) and replaced it with a chicken egg of the same color. I have it in a room that is a constant 60f, if I wait...
So i was outside building some nest boxes when I had 4 wild birds come down my driveway, infuriating my tom, the hen layed down for him, and he mated her in front of all the wild birds...it was crazy.
How long should I expect eggs? Right away?
I have 4, two toms and two hens, 9 months - 2 years old. I only have pics that I've shown before in the turkey pic thread, nasty weather! I'd love to see some of your Narragansetts as I've only seen mine!
Thanks! TIU209
First off, love this site! I am posting for our family unit which lives at 4000' elevation in the Central Cali foothills. Last year we bought 4 day old Black Australorps, they have all grow up to be strong daily layers at our little place here. Today I bought 3 Narragansett turkeys, I love...
