    Missing toe nails

I ordered 6 bantams from a feed store, 2 each Mille fleur Duccle, Old English and Silver Laced Seabright. When I picked them up they were limp, unresponsive and barely moving. I hand fed them water mixed into their food. One had splayed legs which I taped with a small bandaid. I lost 3 about a...

    Feeding Oatmeal Hazards

So I love to spoil my girls and feed them a bowl of warm oatmeal on a cold winter day. They gobble it up and wipe there sticky oatmeal beaks on the straw and pick it off of each other as it flies everywhere. A few days ago we had such a cold morning and after they ate the oatmeal one of my EE...

New Hampshire or Rhode Island Red?

I ordered 3 Buff Orpingtons pullets from the feed store and somehow, someone made a mistake and sent me 3 red birds. To make matters worse, 2 turned out to be roosters. I am thinking more towards the New Hampshire. They are growing black tail feathers.

    Buff Orpington

This is Julie at 2 weeks old and at 4 months old giving me a hug. Turns out she is a rooster, not a hen like I ordered. Would like to find him a good home but no luck.

    Easter Egger

I read that you can put a chicken to sleep by placing it on its back. I did this to one of my chickens and she let me rub her belly. She seemed quite comfortable and seemed to enjoy it. I don't think she ever went to sleep but did shut her eyes. This was so cool. Who knew???

    Pasty Butt

I am new to this but have read everything on chickens that I can find and one of my chicks only 3 days old had a dark spot on its butt and so I just held her in my hand under the warm water and washed it away and then she had a big poop. She was very quiet and seemed to enjoy the water.
