    We got our first egg today. Wasn't expexting it until next month. Guess I'm building nesting boxes tonight. Do I need to put something in the bottom of them? Like straw? I'm thinking about using two milk crates turned on their side.

    Ok 2 ?'s first of all who long ( as in how many years ) will a hen lay eggs? Second. How cold does it have to get for them to stop laying?

    Chicks pecking each other.

    Our chicks are two weeks old and occasionaly will get aggressive w/ each other, pecking and chasing each other. Is this normal? Also an unrelated question. How cold does it have to get befor the hens will stop laying? How warm does it have to be, in the coop, for them over the winter months?

    What's the easiest way to clean up their poop out of their cage? I've cleaned the cage completely out, and they're going more than before, how can I clean it a little easier than with toilet paper? Any suggestion's?

    Wood chips in water
