She was sold to me as an EE pullet, but she doesn't look like any of the EE pics I've seen. She's not laying yet and her legs are a greenish color, she's about 10weeks old here. Any ideas? And is she a bantam?
Total newbie question here, but
How long can the eggs in be in the nest without a hen sitting on them? We haven't seen any of them sit yet, and as of today there are 6 eggs in there, started leaving them on Monday before that we were collecting daily. There is also another egg in the other...
So, had hens, then got rooster, now we got 2 eggs in nest today, normally only one. How long do I watch to see if one of the girls is going to be setting on them? I'm really lost when it comes to this part.
We just got this roo yesterday and right now we have him in a crate on our porch, when can we let him out with the girls(3 hens). Also, if we want eggs to hatch but we still want to collect, how do we handle this once the roo and the chicks are getting along :-)
Here's our new guy, Kristoff...
We only have 3 chicks, is one of them trying to make a nest to hatch?
This is our first year with chickens laying so we are fairly clueless... This is beside the house and their coop is across the yard btw.
Hi everyone,
I just got all my seeds in the ground today and it's a small plot, but now am not sure how to keep the 3 chickens that we have away from it. I'm scared they'll eat my seeds
Any ideas of how to keep them out of the garden area?
