We only have 3 chicks, is one of them trying to make a nest to hatch?

This is our first year with chickens laying so we are fairly clueless... This is beside the house and their coop is across the yard btw.

They may not be picking a spot to start a hatch, but they like that spot better than the place you want them to lay.

Is there any way to tell for sure if they are trying to set up to hatch? Should we collect or try to move those eggs? They are all out in the yard all day from just before lunch to evening time, they go in the coop then.

We'd love 'em to hatch, but don't think we a have a roo at all. This is the first time they've laid that many in the same spot, so it was just really surprising...

No rooster then they won't hatch & if they were for hatching there would be a hen sat on them
best test them & stick 'em in the fridge.

If you want to hatch eggs just go on Ebay if / when your hen goes broody, tons of hatching eggs to bid on & buy there & most of the sellers are reliable.

Do you have a couple nests in the coop?
You might want to put a couple of fake eggs/golf balls in the nests and lock the hens in the coop for a few days until they get the idea of where you want them to lay.
