    Dead and dying 6-weekers!

I'm confused! Yesterday evening my chicks were healthy and rambunctious and this morning 3 of 4 were cold and catatonic. Since then one has died, one is unchanged, and one is starting to make little chirring noises. Because they were all cold to the touch, I immediately tucked them (fearfully...

One says Production Reds, one says Rhode Island Reds; what do YOU say?

I don't know if I'm ready for this, but go ahead and tell me what you think. Rhode Island Reds or Production? If they're production, it'll be the second time I've gone down this road since March. I'd like to remedy the problem sooner rather than later! Thanks, you wonderful BYCers!

6 Rhode Island Reds (please check) ~6 weeks (?) sex?

I refuse to give up on getting RIR hens for my flock! I picked up these sweeties a few weeks (I think) ago. At first I thought I had one rooster, then I thought two, and now I'm thinking three. What do YOU think? I have one photo of five together and a separate photo of the sixth...

Warning - objectionable content! Can I improve my eggs' flavor?

Maybe I'm too sensitive, but to me my eggs taste like... well, like the way a chicken smells. I remember listening to an "adventurous eater" author describe eating !! WARNING *** CONTENT MAY BE UPSETTING OR OFFENSIVE ***!! a dish in Southeast Asia made from canis and remarking that the stew...

WHAT is going on with gold sex-links?!?! I have a ROO, too!

A few days ago I read a post about someone who had a gold sex-link with a well-developed comb and wattles compared to the others in her bunch. She was concerned that it could be a rooster, but the posts in reply reassured her that even among the same sex there are differences in comb and wattle...

    FLIES! What do I do?

Now that the warm weather is here I'm noticing something new since last year - a loud, high-pitched buzzing the instant I open my door to the outside! They are everywhere! I can only guess that it's the chicken poo that's drawing them. . . . I can't rake my whole back yard! I can't...

    What breed or gender?

The Ameraucana cheeks are there, but the legs are yellow. About 12 weeks old. It liked to box with another pullet that turned out to be a roo. I hope the pictures came through.

Is this 18-wk roo a Rhode Island or New Hampshire Red?

George, the chicken previously known as Ginger, is way more colorful and shiny than my year-old RIR layers. I'm trying to sell him but am wanting to be truthful about his breed. See photo. Okay, so I can't figure out how to upload my photo. He's a brilliant, super-shiny-bright orange...

    Hello from Sherwood, Oregon!

I'm so glad I've found people who understand me! My friends think I've gone chicken-crazy in six short weeks, but who wouldn't? Friendly, happy, feathered gals who love to give you eggs in return for chicken feed?! What a great bunch of critters! I want you to know that some of your posts...
