One of my 5 week old coturnix hens was attacked today and she has a wound that covers at least half of her head. I have isolated her and have put neosporin on the wound. Is this something she can recover from or will I have to put her out of her misery?

My quail chicks are 6 days old and are starting to bathe in in their food dish. Can I put some dirt/sand in with them or is it still to early for that?
This is my first experience hatching quail, right now I'm on day 16 of incubating coturnix eggs and I've noticed that 2 eggs have pipped.. It's now been a couple of hours since and no progress, should I be concerned?
